Title: Vietnam
Post by: VForcedave on March 06, 2006, 04:04:00 PM
I have been reading several books about Vietnam lately and ( I am a piece time vet 1975 to 1979) find the so called war over there very interesting and sad at the same time. The lives lost, the families torn apart, vets coming home missing limbs and every other piece of a body. With the antiwar demonstrations going on around the U.S. while our soldiers were being forced into the jaws of death. I would like to hear from any Vietnam Vets either privately or in the open forum and hear about their experiences while over there. I understand there are still some POW's unaccounted for and perhaps still alive in Vietnam.  I would also want to keep in our prayers the men and women serving in Iraq and Afganistan so they may return home to there families as well.

my father is a vitnam vet. he has two purple hearts on from shrapnal in his back from a gernade and he steped on a m-1 morter round that was set up as a boobie trap. he doesnt say much about the war but i have herd stories about his friends dieing all around him and that kind of stuff. he does not regret serving his country over there and as am i he is proud to serve his county. the only regret is the innocent people that died because they could not tell the enemy from the good guys. it is hard to go to war when the enemy does not follow the geniva convention! ???

MOTOCROSS MAVERICK

My dad served as well, though not in direct combat he had the ungodely job of writing the letters back to the wives and parents of fallen men. He has told me of severl men he was close to in the military and a couple very close friends from  back in the states that he had to do that vary deed for.. So to people like your father and mine, and the men and women serving now, Thank You and God Bless!
War is obviously not wanted, but is without a doubt needed..

Jake's Dad here,
My dad is a 3 tour Vietnam Vet.He has 3 purple hearts and has told me many stories of incredible horror. This is war and it is really unsettling to watch the caskets on tv and the very little respect the media and protesters have  for the fallen soldiers. If they really understood what our troops were doing over there and the rights they afford us maybe we would see better stories with better endings. But until it is learned in our schools it will be gone from the world!!!!!!!!

                   SEMPER FI!!!!!!!!!!
God bless all of our soldiers and vets for with out them we would not be on this site talking about it!!!!!!!!    We can't be the only ones who realize this????

Semper Fi!! my dad was a peace time vietnam vet also 75-83. my brother and I both were in from 93-2000 & 94-99. my 1st job after I left active duty was working for the state of florida as a disabled vet rep-- best job i ever had but hard at times to see our boys come home and to have to take some piss poor job just to make ends meet. I support our boys fighting now i hope and pray for them to come home soon.
