you might have a kick stand switch. wich woulnt let you put it in first with the kickstand down dout it tho. does the bike jerk when you put it in first? might have a broken cable witch causes it to stall when you pop it into first.

Ok the previous two posts are most likely not the case, well theres no way that its the battery or kickstand as your bike doesn't have either (stock). I'm guessing your just not warming it up enough. Just about everybike does it while its warming up. Do you notice once you start riding that it goes away? You need to give it alittle gas with the clutch all the way in then click it down. Also check your freeplay if your lever is all floppy you need to adjust it to the bikes recommendations (like 3-6mm).

Either the clutch needs adjusting or the clutch/friction plates don't have any oil on them and they are sticking. My 250 did that when it sat for a long time.  Try adjusting the clutch cable on the clutch cover first.  -Mark

Finally a smart answer.  The first two were just plain dumb.  If it's not what Old_School mentioned, you should inspect the clutch for any worn parts?

But are you saying it just revs down and down and shuts off?  Or it stalls with the clutch in?  And is there a difference to when it's hot or cold?
