Title: Prayers needed. Update.
Post by: SWAMP_DONKEY on January 22, 2006, 09:40:38 AM
We are asking for prayers once again from our ATV family. My sisters 20 year ond Son Ian is in ORMC in ICU on a resperator unresponsive to pain and his pupils are fixed and dialated from a siezure yesterday afternoon. They have no idea (once again) what has caused this and the prognosis is grimm. Your prayers helped heal our little man Colton, Please let us all send up prayers for my sisters family and Ian for a full recovery, Thank you all and God bless.

Still no word on the cause. He is still showing that he is siezing through his eyes, even though he is unconcious he eyes are jumping. Ian s showing no signs of brain activity on the surface and we are waiting to the test results. This does not look good thank you all for your prayers.

Thank you Ida, he is in ICU with no visitors. I will keep you all updated.

I can stop by and bring a meal for the visitors at least,,,I know if they are anything like my family, if someone is in the hospital they tend not to leave at all,,,and hospital food is pretty bad.

just let me know and I can stop by after work tomorrow.

Everyone has gone home to get some rest. The Dr's have put Ian in a Chemical induced comma in an effort to give his mind and body a rest, he is in one constant seizure. The Dr's said "Its like a tornado you have to let it do its damage and try to pick up the pieces later" not the most tactful statement of the year but he got his point across. The paralysis is believed to be from a stroke he suffered during the seizure. The Dr's keep talking about encephalitis but they are not sure. I will keep you posted and keep up the prayers...we were not looking for this year to start this way, but God has his reasons. Ian will be fine with everyone pulling for him. Thank you again and God Bless.

Ida, Cindy and Kevin live in Orlando so they are eating well. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulnes.

Scott, Do you think it would help if I came over there. I mean, with Colton, every time I came in the room he did get better.  ;)

Tell the family to keep their head up and be positive, He can sense/feel any negativity in the room.

Scott,

I'm sorry this has happened!!!  Ian and your entire family are in my thoughts and prayers.  Its a hard thing to understand, no one wants to have their child die before them.  I hope and pray he comes out of it with no affects, but the man upstairs might have bigger things planned for your nephew.

Several years ago I lost 10 close friends, and many other accquaintances in a club fire.  This was a senseless fire caused by pyrotechnics in a building that was to small.  I was very depressed for about a year, then one day it hit me they were called upon to do great things bigger than I could have ever imagined.

Again I'm very sorry for what has happened to Ian and your family.  If you need anything just ask.

Update...Ian is having seizures again and is back in a comma!!! The Dr's still have no idea what is wrong with him and they are planning a Brain biopsy for tomorrow. Now they are calling in a specialist from the infectious disease center. This is very frustrating to have no idea what is wrong and waisting precious time with him still seizing and running a temp of 102 for five days. Sorry if I sound as I am venting but these are things I have to get off my chest so I can be there for Cindy and Kevin in a possative way if need be. Keep the prayers going up, and Thank you all.

sorry for the bad news I know you are all pulling for him. Ill bring him on a ride when he gets better.

Best I know up that way is the Mayo clinic in Jacksonville.  It may seem like a long way away from Orlando, but in my opinion, there's not a hospital in FL worth a damn.  Mayo in Jax, or Cleveland Clinic in Weston/Ft Lauderdale, or the Naples branch are the only that are semi-decent.

Do the seizures coincide with an increase in his temperature? 102 shouldn't be enough to cause a febrile seizure however I suppose it's possible.
It does sound like the swelling is the origin. I can't imagine the frustration for everyone concerned with treating this child.

Remember the healthcare workers in your prayers as well.

Driving back and forth, did not go up today had to work. Kevin and Cynthia are getting some rest they are so stressed out. Our mom is going back up in the a.m. and staying in Mt. Dora where she has a house. There is so many people (friends and family) that visit and no-one can hardly see Ian at all. They do not need money at all.. but some coffee or snacks would be great if you find the time. They are in the ICU on 5b turn right off the elavator and go to the end of the long hall. Cinthia is my sister and Kevin is her husband.
Ian is still having seizures even though he is in a comma, they are going to send the biobsy to Mayo Clinic in Chicago. Thank you all again for your prayers. My Mothers name is Julie she will be there again today. God Bless you all.

They do not need money at all.. but some coffee or snacks would be great if you find the time.

What I meant was to help Ida pay for anything he might take to the hospitol, you know, the coffee, treats, sandwiches. Ida let me know.

Ida,

Let me know if you need anyhelp with funds for what you take to Scott's family in the hospital.  I cannot afford to do much but I will do what I can.  In times like this every little bit helps.

That's kind of what I was trying to get started. Ida, if you or someone else near there want to do this, set up a paypal account for us to send money to. Then there will be some help in buying the items needed.

I never stopped praying and won't. The Dr's can help, but it's in the Lords hands it looks like.

Scott, sit down and take a deep slow breath every once in a while. God bless the family in these times of need.

Update....We should have the results from the biopsy today (praying) Ian is still in a comma and still showing some electrical activity in the Brain (seizure activity) that should be impossible in a comma. This has gone on for 8 days now. As Dreeth stated "This is Gods territory" and he will bring him through if it is Gods will. Keep the prayers comming.

Still no work about test results! Only bad news from the Dr's "If Ian makes it it will be months before we know how much rehab will help" They are not possative about the prospects of Ian recovering 100% :'( I am so Keep praying.

"God may not always be on time, but he is never late"

This will be a long journey for my sister and her family and they may not see the light now but it is there, and in time they will.

Ian has been in a constant seizure from 4:00am this morning. The Dr's are calling him a enigma and they are @ the end of the line with medication. He should not be in a Seizure while in a comma it should be impossible. We are praying and trying to stay possative but the prognossis for a full recovery is grimm. Mom has asked Tom (the man that came to see colton) to come and see Ian and Kevin (Ians father) has finally agreed. Lets hoppee for another miracle. Today @ 3:30 they are meeting him there. Lets all pray at that time. Thank you nall for your help at this sad time.

Tom Said there is no encephalitis that there is a scar on the back of the head of Ian and he never touched him and Ian's head was on the pillow. The scar was from being hit in the head a few days before going in to the hospital and he recieved stitches,,, the Dr's never picked up on this...Tom did. He feels that Ian will have a turn around for the better in the next few days and should be fine. Tom also discribed Ian's grandfather to a Tee and a park with a Gazeebo where they used to go. That park is right down the street from thier house and Tom has never been there. Another testimony for the glory of our Lord...I think So.

Just got back from ORMC, brought donuts & coffee up to Ian's parents.  We got to talk for quite awhile and I prayed with the family and over Ian specifically.  I felt the Lord's prescence and His peace in the room and we know HE heals as HE has already done for Colton.  Jesus Christ has carried our burdens and healed our transgressions, Ian is in his hands.  Keep praying and have faith.  We have to get this boy on a ride and get him muddy when he is back on his feet.  ;)

Rev. John Westcott made a visit to Ian this weekend to pray.  Not sure if he got to speak to his parents.  Keep on believing for a miracle.

Ian has had a blood transfusion and now his bone marrow has stopped producing white blood cells, visiters have to wear a gown cap and gloves to limit his exposure to germs. They are going to discuss his last MRI today. I will keep you all posted.

 GOD BLESS YOU IAN.

THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL STORY

Sally jumped up as soon as she saw the surgeon come out of the operating
room. She said: "How is my little boy? Is he going to be all right? When can
I see him?"

The surgeon said, "I'm sorry. We did all we could, but your boy didn't make
it.."

Sally said, "Why do little children get cancer? Doesn't God care any more?
Where were you, God, when my son needed you?"

The surgeon asked, "Would you like some time alone with your son? One of the
nurses will be out in a few minutes, before he's transported to the
university."

Sally asked the nurse to stay with her while she said good-bye to son. She
ran her fingers lovingly through his thick red curly hair.

"Would you like a lock of his hair?" the nurse asked.

Sally nodded yes. The nurse cut a lock of the boy's hair, put it in a
plastic bag and handed it to Sally. The mother said, "It was Jimmy's idea to
donate his body to the university for study. He said it might help somebody
else. "I said no at first, but Jimmy said, 'Mom, I won't be using it after I
die. Maybe it will help some other little boy spend one more day with his
Mom." She went on, "My Jimmy had a heart of gold. Always thinking of someone
else. Always wanting to help others if he could."

Sally walked out of Children's mercy Hospital for the last time, after
spending most of the last six months there. She put the bag with Jimmy's
belongings on the seat beside her in the car. The drive home was difficult.
It was even harder to enter the empty house. She carried Jimmy's belongings,
and the plastic bag with the lock of his hair to her son's room. She started
placing the model cars and other personal things back in his room exactly
where he had always kept them. She laid down across his bed and, hugging his
pillow, cried herself to sleep.

It was around midnight when Sally awoke. Laying beside her on the bed was a
folded letter. The letter said:

"Dear Mom, I know you're going to miss me; but don't think that I will ever
forget you, or stop loving you, just 'cause I'm not around to say I LOVE
YOU. I will always love you, Mom, even more with each day. Someday we will
see each other again. Until then, if you want to adopt a little boy so you
won't be so lonely, that's okay with me. He can have my room and old stuff
to play with. But, if you decide to get a girl instead, she probably
wouldn't like the same things us boys do. You'll have to buy her dolls and
stuff girls like, you know Don't be sad thinking about me. This really is a
neat place. Grandma and Grandpa met me as soon as I got here and showed me
around some, but it will take a long time to see everything. The angels are
so cool. I love to watch them fly. And, you know what? Jesus doesn't look
like any of his pictures. Yet, when I saw Him, I knew it was Him. Jesus
himself took me to see GOD! And guess what, Mom? I got to sit on God's knee
and talk to Him,! like I was somebody important. That's when I told Him that
I wanted to write you a letter, to tell you good-bye and everything.  But I
already knew that wasn't allowed Well, you know what Mom? God handed
me some paper and His own personal pen to write you this letter. I think
Gabriel is the name of the angel who is going to drop this letter off to
you. God said for me to give you the answer to one of the questions you
asked Him 'Where was He when I needed him?' "God said He was in the same
place with me, as when His son Jesus was on the cross. He was right there,
as He always is with all His children.

Oh, by the way, Mom, no one else can see what I've written except you. To
everyone else this is just a blank piece of paper. Isn't that cool? I have
to give God His pen back now. He needs it to write some more names in the
Book of Life. Tonight I get to sit at the table with Jesus for supper. I'm,
sure the food will be great.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I don't hurt anymore. The cancer is all
gone. I'm glad because I couldn't stand that pain anymore and God couldn't
stand to see me hurt so much, either. That's when He sent The Angel of Mercy
to come get me. The Angel said I was a Special Delivery! How about that?

Signed with Love from: God, Jesus &Me.

Scott,

I'm soooo Sorry!!!!  I know words are not enough, and there is nothing anyone one of us can say that will make it any easier.

Please remember he will be in a better place.  I tell myself that every year at this time or when I start missing my friends that died in the Great White Fire in Rhode Island 3 years ago yesterday.

We will all be here for you and your family, a few things I've learned after dealing with the loss of my friends back home:

Friends make the pain easier, but it will never go away
Remember the good times, not the bad
Talk about it, don't hold it in.  It will eventually catch up with you.

It took me almost 3 years to learn those 3 little simple things.

My Thoughts and Prayers are with you and your whole family!!!

The Mansion of Heaven

This world, however beautiful, was never meant to be
The place that we would call our home for all eternity.
And though we would not choose to leave, a loving
God knows best, and in His time,
He lifts us to a place of peace and rest,
For He has built a mansion where
His children will abide, free from pain and sorrow,
Forever at His side.
He said He’d never leave us to face our trials alone,
And though sometimes we fail Him, He never fails His own.
And even when our choices are less than He would ask,
He knows when human courage is unequal to the task.
We cannot judge what happens,
Though tears and questions start –
We only see what’s visible – God sees into the heart…..

And though there may be many things that we cannot explain,
We can be sure it breaks His heart to see His children’s pain.
In loving arms, He bears us to a quiet place apart
Where He mends the wounded spirit
And heals the broken heart.
And though these one we love so much
Have left our present sight, and passed into a
Better world of majesty and light,
Someday we’ll be together in our Father’s home above,
Where we’ll thank Him for His mercy
And praise Him for His love.

At the hospital, I told Ian's father Kevin that one day he would open his eyes again.  What I did not know then is that it would be Jesus Ian would first see.

And we are still taking him 4-wheeling, that is a promise, we will just have to do it on Streets of Gold.  Until we meet again Ian.   :ThumbsUp.gif God bless you Scott, Kevin and Cindy.  :Hug.gif

When my Grandfather passed, the words of this familiar Hymn came to mind:

When peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
When sorrows like sea billows roll;
Whatever my lot, Thou has taught me to say,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

It is well, with my soul,
It is well, with my soul,
It is well, it is well, with my soul.

There is a great story of the man, Horatio Spafford who wrote the Hymn after losing his 3 children.  It's long, but quite good, if you are interested, click:
