just got my 06 yfz  450 and i was riding it for the 1st time and the exhuast header got RED hot....it was like orange! it looked like wen u make a fire and u have the really hot coals....ever seen this before????

No need to worry. That's common for the YFZ. Your bike is not about to catch on fire (lol)

lol ok well just making sure, about those loose bolts in that topic? should i get those tightened? im pretty new to the quad world! thanks for the help!

yes you can do it your self its not hard. put some lock tight on them while your at it.

You'll have to get a good ride out of it to get loose but your safe under 3 rides.

The pipe stops glowing red after your 2nd tank....

most bike come with them loose out the door i know mavericks did. and the glowing pipe will still do it after 2 tanks.  its normal on all 450's. ;)

why is ur pipe wrapped in tape? to prevent heat?

its called heat tape. it prevents me from burning my boots. :P and it makes the pipe sound better alittle. someone said it gives you alittle more throttle response but i didnt notice any. ??? plus it keeps mud from sticking to your exhaust we all know how hard that is to get off. :o

Well when my bike was on it's first ride it was glowing like crazy..Now it's rarely glowing red only if you rev it..  So your saying it will never go away? ???

 you should only see it in night time. run your bike for a long time then shut your garage and turn off thge lights see how red it is. :o

it could have also been because of all the cold weather we have had.
