small suggestion,,,,"Tech Corner" would probably be a better spot for this question,,,second, I thought you were getting the Zuki 450?

on the waiting list and all.

why are you asking sparks or hmf! you already said you ordered an HMF ???! so there is your answer so keep your thought to yourself!

Post by: backinsaddle on January 19, 2006, 04:13:35 PM
I would say that if HMF is really 104 db like you say in another post, and sparks is 97 or so db, go with the sparks.  I know every kid want's a loud exhaust, but if you plan on going anywhere besides a track, you're not doing anyone a favor with the loud exhaust.  One of the biggest complaints people have with ATV's is loud exhaust, they don't want to hear it.  The only thing it does is contribute to more trail closures, so do us all a favor, even the pro racers are concerned with sound level, keep it quiet.  Remember, loud doesn't mean more power.

Why dont you run with your stock pipe :N

Holes in the pipe makes it faster and louder ;)

The jetting you could do yourself, if you dont you WILL be charged up the ass, because they have to find out where it runs the best at.

The pipe, really easy. I would say about 4 bolts and thats it.

Well if I jet my YFZ and something messes up on my quad it wouldn't be covered beacse I jetted it >:(

Is this a ripp off???

Dealer Charges!!!

1.20HR Service $360
2.Pipe installed $70
3.Jet-Kit installed $110

If I just installed the pipe I would save alot of money :-\

find a different atv shop to take it to! 360 in labor is 2 much, my dad payed 360 just in labor and 345 in parts to after i wrecked my cr 85 and that is WAY to much >:(  so i dont take it to that place anymore, just call places and ask how much they charge to do it, or get jakes mechanic...we all know he has had a lot of practice working on his 04  :D :D ;)

Title: Re: HMF
Post by: Honda250ex on February 03, 2006, 05:47:00 PM
I got it and I tryed to put it on for like an hour, 2 days ago and know I spent 2 hours trying to get it right. First I had a problem with it being to short by 1/2 inch, so I could not screw on the canister but today I could screw the canister in place but the header wasnt getting in properly and so they had a 3/4 inch gap between where you connect the canister to the header >:( Know Im mad because I got a HMF :-\

Title: Re: HMF
Post by: backinsaddle on February 03, 2006, 05:54:58 PM
try leaving all the bolts loose until you get everything installed.  Don't tighten till all the bolts are in...that may give you enough play to get everything lined up...tighten at that point

Title: Re: HMF
Post by: rubicon500kid on February 03, 2006, 08:39:04 PM
thats kinda sad u got to blame hmf cuz u dont know how to put a pipe on

ya they r right u don't have to blame HMF because u don't know how to install a pipe. HMF is a great company and this could of happened to anybody.

Title: Re: HMF
Post by: 2006YFZ450 on February 04, 2006, 11:26:38 AM
I went over his house and put the HMF on pefectly but it sounds like exhuast is leaking ou t of the header where it bolts on to the cylinder.. I tried tightning it but same thing what happen it would be really loud like your running just a header with no pipe ???

I think the first time her tried to install it he over-tightened it and the piece that bolts on to the cylinder bened and screwed up something....

If you guys know what is wrong please tell HONDA250EX cuz he has no clue what's his doing...... ;)

Title: Re: HMF

did u guys put a gasket on?

Title: Re: HMF
Post by: DZ 350 on February 04, 2006, 11:40:48 AM
or like u said he tried to tighten it and he bent it so thats the reason, so u shoud try to bend it back for him since he doesn't know how to do it, and see if that works.

Title: Re: HMF
Post by: rubicon500kid on February 04, 2006, 04:18:55 PM

my dog got ahold of mine and it was gone but u cant install it with out it jsut call up hmf and ask for one

Title: Re: HMF
Post by: 2006YFZ450 on February 05, 2006, 07:53:52 AM
It's probably the Gasket cuz its leaking out and a sh*t loud of noise out of the header insted of the canister ::)

I just can't see a 12 year old on a LT-R450. Thats just asking for an injury. If you get anything, you should go more towards a Z/KFX400 or 400EX. You would probably have more fun on a Z/KFX400 than a 400EX.
