Title: Here's a good question for you Mod's and ofcourse Mr. Bone Man. Post by: Pastense on January 13, 2006, 12:28:00 AM I take it you're aware that if you remove a post it, negativley affects the amount of posts you have made.
That doesn't seem very fair (granted I've lived long enought to know that seldom is life ever fair) However, in this case it does seem that if one wishes to clean up the board somewhat, he or she is penalized for it. For example, I recently had three post working simutaneuosly on the same subject matter "South Florida riders". The way that I had to create and recreate the listing it was neccesary to have three similar threads going at once. Afterwards, I realized that two of the posts were redundant so I removed them.......which ofcourse led me inexorably, here. It is a small pertubation to be sure but one of which I figured could be relativley simply handled by our resident brain trust. Thanks for your time guys. Post by: Bigscrb15 on January 13, 2006, 12:38:55 AM the post count is based on posts that you have on the board, if that post is gone, so is the count, get used to it. You also lose posts if someone deletes a thread you posted in.

We have immature kids who constantly make insignificant posts just to get their count up. Now we have someone complaining because they lost a couple... big deal. Just because you have 100000 posts, doesnt make you a better member then someone who has 10. I vote for getting rid of post counts all together.

since we are on the subject what i hate is when you got a good thread going with quite a few good responses and one idiot post something stupid and the whole thing is gone. i realize that the mods dont have the time and i know the post aboout total removal, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. but whatever. this is a great forum and i love it and i have met great people and have ridden in areas i would have never even known of. i think skyhighs idea of post count removal is the best thing i've heard. Title: Re: Here's a good question for you Mod's and ofcourse Mr. Bone Man. Post by: Pastense on January 13, 2006, 10:07:52 AM Wow, touchy, touchy..............guess I hit a nerve with some people. Granted, post counts aren't important to some people, but why so hostile?
I pose this question: Why have post counts if nobody cares? I certainly don't care one way or the other if the post counts are listed or not. I just posed a question of irony. If someone tries to help clean up the boards with the removal of thier own redundant posts is there a way to maintain thier post count? If not, no big deal.........if so great. Besides, the Subject line says ".....Mods and ofcourse Mr. Bone....." It was not intended to spark a riot, only to solicit an answer, from the appropriate people. ;) Title: Re: Here's a good question for you Mod's and ofcourse Mr. Bone Man.
