Everyone keep there thoughts and prayers for Moose he had an accident yesterday out trail riding and the quad ended up on top of him. Scrub brothers  and Da_Mtg_Man got him tot he hospital. He is in the hospital until at least Tuesday, 5 broken ribs, broken collar bone and a contusion on the lung.

He was doing really well. Better than I would have been at his age. Hes definitely a strong young man.

Also, Congrats to Lil Moose as he got his new quad yesterday(Honda Rancher ES) so hopefully he got to go on a ride this morning with the MTG family. It is a sweet quad.

I just met moose @ R.R. this weekend. Just dropped his truck off with Da Mtg Man and he says he is in good spirits. Get well soon Bruce.

There were a bunch of us out at our camp this weekend in Lake Wales. Moose was on a trail ride with a few people and was going around someone that was in the road, He put his right tires on a =n 8 inch dirt ledge and something caoght his tire and snatched the bars out of his hands. It threw him from the bike. He says he was going about 15 mph.
He has 5 broken ribs,a broken color bone that is seperated so it may require surgery and he has a contusion on his lung.
My wife and I just walked in from the hospital and getting his quads and truck situated.
He's in Lake Wales Hospital in room 229. Give him a call and cheer him up.

Big thanks to evryone that helped him and a big thanks to QT and BBF for flying back to camp and getting the truck. Also the scrub bros for getting him to the hospital.

Thanks for the room number.  I'd like to see if anyone else is interested in sending him a group card from the site w/ some kind of goodies or flowers to brighten him up.  Heard he will be there only for a couple of days.  But he's way out where he has no friends or family to visit him.  I don't know about y'all but I had a similar incident in '95 in a quad accident and was too far for anyone to visit.  It sucked.  No flowers, cards, balloons, chocolate or anything.

What do y'all think about doing something for him before he gets out?

Also THANKS QT for taking your truck out their to get Moose back to camp in moderate comfort, without to much pain that a Quad would have caused.   Friends are more important than anything else!!!!  Sorry about the scratches in the truck, I'll help you get them out.

My brother works for Florida Power in Lake Wales, Since Bruce is retired from Fl. Power My brother is going to have some of the guys from his yard to go visit Bruce.It sucks that he's so far away,We can't just drive down and see him.

Moose is a good guy. We have camp next to and road with him and little moose twice.

If some one is taking up a kitty for flowers or beef jerky :). Please post. We can put in a few bucks via paypal.

Get well soon Moose, about a year ago, one of my friends flip his quad climbing a hill in ONF and it rolled right over him and folded him in half and broke his back.  After a whole year, he is just now almost completely recovered.

I talked to Bruce and his nurse and there is talk of him being released today which isn't a good thing. He lives alone in Crystal River and can't even hardly talk (due to the broken ribs) much less get out of bed and take care of himself. I am on stand by to drive back over to Lake Wales and pick him up.
QT is working with a florist to get him a care package with Balloons,cookies and so forth before he leaves the hospital. I will get QT's paypal for anyone that wants to pitch in a couple bucks for the arrangement. Will keep eveyone informed.

Mike just left to get Bruce. He did not feel confident in the Doctors and asked Mike to come get him and take him to Bayfront Medical here in St Pete. This way he can see his regular doctor and his family will be close by. They have not put him in any kind of brace and said he could go home. He is still in tremendous pain and does not feel that he should be home in this condition. We will post info as soon as we know what is going on. 

That's terrible that he wrecked.  :'( He will be in my prayers.

I can't believe they are sending him home in that condition!  :(
Glad to here he is going to get the care he deserves. Please post updates info with his location.

Ok, Bruce is at Bayfront medical center but is still waiting in the ER to be submitted. He looks funny because he's still filthy from riding this weekend, He wore the hospital gown with a pair of work boots when we left the hospital. The funny part is that as we walked out the front door his a$$ was hanging out the back of the gown.  Of course I didn't tell him though.  ;D

I will check in on him in a little bit when I get back from Cubscouts.

By the way, He got the package that QT had delivered and it was really cool. It was loaded with chocolates a dirt wheels magazine and a bunch of balloons.

I guess hospitals are a tradeoff, get through ER in 5 minutes and have a crappy doctor, or sit in ER for couple hours and get a good doctor, lol.

Incidents like this just go to prove how good the people on this website are. Everyone that was present helped, or offered to help in any way they could. Now people that hardly even know him are offering all their help also. It makes me proud to be a member of this community.

Any info now that he's at Bayfront? 

They wouldn't admit him. He called me at midnight and I went and got him. He's at my house now. I gave him a perc and put him to bed. We have to call a Ortho surgeon in the morning.

It snapped his snorkle off but other than that I haven't had time to look it over closer.

He's going to heal unfortunatley, it's gonna be awhile before he's fully healed.

The good thing is that he'll be able to ride again sooner than later.  He's just going to have to take it real easy on the rides for some time.

The ortho's going to tell him some BS about not doing anything for the next month.  Moose will know his own limitations.  He's just going to have to be embarrassed slightly by riding a little slower and more cautiously than everyone else. 

And for goodness sake, don't go all John Wayne macho about it. Otherwise they'll have to really pin back your ears.

Believe me having first hand experience in this subject sucks......... :ouch.gif

Hello all, I'm at Mike's house now, and feeling like, well you know. Going to see the ortho surgen this afternoon, hopefully things will start to look up. I can't say enough about the family I didn't relize I had untill this. To say you all are amazing is an understatement. I am so overwhelmed by all of you, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I can't remember all the names now, but I will, of the people that helped me. A perimedic was with us, he checked me out and made me feel a lot more comfortable, and never left me, even followed QT and I back to camp on his quad. Fern, I thank you very much. QT, thanks so much for driving me to camp, it was 5 miles or so, it was nice not having to ride the quad back to camp. There's much more to tell you all, and I will later when I feel better.
 I can't say enough good about Mike and his family for their help. They got my truck, trailer and quads, and my son back home for me.

Update........

Went to the ortho and Bruce is going under the knife on Thursday to put the Clavical back together with a steel plate. It will be day surgery.
He's going to stay with us until then. In the last 2 days I've come to realize why Bruce and his ex-wife got divorced.   ;D

that sounds like something they would do. I am suing RR for emotinal damage because now I am emotionally damaged that I could also be involved in an accident on their land one day. Im only asking for $15million.

Bruce, good to hear form you even though you aren't feeling much better, hopefully you have had a chance to shower and relax a little bit and Im sure its nice to be out of the hospital and back into the real world.

Bruce's surgery is around 11am. It is day surgery so were expecting him to be sent home around 2 or so. Will update here as soon as I know something.

He's on his way here now. I don't know much other than he told me that he feels better already. I told him thats just the morphine talking and he'll be hurting alot more tomorrow. I mean, what are friends for you know. :D

OK everyone, I'm back at Mike & Jen's house and feeling much better. The surgery went as well as it could, no problems or surprises. They have my arm straped to my chest so it won't move, and that makes my ribs feel quite a bit better also. I guess I will find out tomorrow when the surgery meds wear off how bad it will be. The down side is 6 weeks minimum before I can ride or use the arm.

Well I did have QT following me, so that might have had something to do with it.  ;D

The operation meds have worn off and the pain is up some, but not as bad as I thought it would. Nothing these little pills won't take care of, if one won't do it, two certainly will. Just a waiting game now, I do feel a little better each day. I am going to look into a steering stabilizer because this is the second time this has happened. lil moose hurt his legs the first time, so this has to stop.

Steering stabilizers help just ask QT!!!!    LOL  But they don't work that good when your  :drink.gif :drive.gif  and hit a stump with them.   ;D  Sorry QT I had no choice.....

I am thinking you should look into a Rhino, with the seatbelts and roll cage. Glad to hear you are feeling a little better, nothing time and some little pills wont fix.

Good point....but two hands help as well, the beverage offers very little control in roll-over situations. ;D We are so glad to hear you are doing better :ThumbsUp.gif

Well, Moose is at home and resting. I haven't checked on him yet this morning but last night he was happy to be home.
Doc said 6-8 weeks of NO riding. He has to wait until the bone grows back together.
We checked out the quad yesterday and a $2 piece of pvc will fix the snorkle (sorry Scott, you're SOL).

As said by people before I got hurt, "the people of this site are amazing."

I relized I didn't thank you all for the basket & balloons, QT it sure surprised me when I got back to the room and saw it sitting there. Thank you QT and anyone else that had anything to do with it, made me feel much better right then.

QT, you are an angel, thanks. Oh, that blue Dodge is one fine truck. She and bbf drove her truck out to bring me and my quad to camp.

Bigscrb brothers, thanks for getting me to the hospital. They wouldn't leave me untill I told them to go on. Then they stayed a little longer.

05greengriz & your wife for getting my truck and trailer with quads accross state, closer to Mikes house. Thank you.

Chuck, I do remember you calling a little. Thanks, it means a lot to me.

And of course DA_MTG_MAN and his BOSS, and their entire family, I can not put into words the thanks I have you you all. They took me into their home and looked after me until I got stable after surgery. Plus driving many many miles at the oddest hours.

There's got to be more that helped break camp and all. If I missed someone, I'm sorry, I'm on these little white pills that make me feel better.  ;D

Hey Moose, hope you're doing better.  I just got into a real bad wreck on Sunday here in Ft Myers.  The same thing ... the quad landed on me after flipping three times.  Thank God I was wearing my helmet and my chest deflector or else I would be dead.  " I know what you are going through "  Doctor said I have to stay off my left leg for 4 weeks.  Man - thank God for those pain killers. My ribs and my back kill me even if I smile too much.

Let's not sweat it .... we'll be back on our quads in no time.  Get Well !!!
