Title: River Ranch Tire Selection?
Post by: jmaze1 on January 03, 2006, 12:04:13 AM
Hello all!

Given the number of ATV riders at River Ranch, I was curious about the tire selection that you guys (and gals) make, or would make for that location. I have a 2004 Sportsman 400 (unmodified) and will be needing new shoes for it soon. I'm thinking about getting a Bigfoot kit with 26" ITP 589 MS tires. Unlifted, the 26" tires should be ok and by not using a lift, wheel spacers or larger tires, I'm trying to avoid stressing the axles, bearings, etc. too much, while still getting a better grip than the stock 25" rubber provides.

I know this general topic has been covered before, but I'm want to be a little more specific about riding conditions with this thread. If you were setting up your quad for riding at RR, what would you select and why?

Thanks in advance... Jay

589's will work fine for you out there. It's a happy medium.
I actually run Outlaws on my Forman and they're really rough on the trails.

I'm running 27" Mudlite XTR's on my King Quad and they seem to do very well at RR. I think they maybe lighter than 589's also.

I run 26x12x12 Maxxis Sur Traxx all the way around and have had no problem out there.  I also don't have a snorkel and only had need for one once.  And actually there was another way through the hole I just wanted to go in the deep part.
