I have read through all of the posting about Sandmountain. I have also read that the operators of Sandmountain are taking a look at what we are having to say about their track.

Ourselves as family and as a race team love the facility. Everytime we go, I cant say that we have ever had a bad time there. I do have to say that if anyone would like Sandmountain to change anything, I believe that everyone needs to post professional suggestions, not improper negatives about what who rides or what level so and so is. I would have to say that, under the roof of ATP, we have about the most verse levels of riders in one place. We have everyone from my 5 year old future PRO rider Wink Grin  , to the absolute fastest riders in the state from production A to PRO production.

I do believe that what they have at Sandmountain as a layout in my opinion is one of the best in the state. I do think that with input from some of the riders that we have under our roof, and other riders that have many years of riding experience like TRX9, as well as the input from your everyday riders, that there could be changes made to any of the tracks in the state.
I have learned a lot personally about jumping since I have been going to sandmountain. I am defiantly an average rider. I think that some of the faces of the jumps should be groomed and or angled a bit better and I also agree that if there where some changes made to the step up, it would make it a lot more friendly of a jump. I as an average rider have tried the step up, and made the jump, but I have only done it once because if you don't land perfectly, it will not be a pretty site.

I have sent Sandmountain a pm in the past, and extended the help from our team if they would like input or help from them. One of our riders is a heavy equipment operator, and has the experience to go out and groom the track.

I still extend the offer. If you guys are willing to have us out and let us work with you, we would be more than happy to help.

Thanks,
ATP Racing

Very well said, Mike.  As I said earlier, if the track were groomed a little better it would make a great improvment.

As for Hardrock, as bad as its groomed its still better taken care of than SM.  Last time we rode there about three weeks ago all the jumps were very well groomed.  That makes a big difference.  I personally would not try the water tower no matter how groomed it was.  I like my ars were it is.

As far as insisting that the step up is safe, I can personally vouch that the young  man who just about broke his back, is a better rider than 95% of any of us on this forum.  We have ridden with him several times at Bithlo and he is good.  Please explain what happen to him. A mistake, lack of experience.  I dont think so.  It could happen to anyone, but after ridding so many tracks, I cant recal a jump that has kicked so many arses.  Not even the water tower.

Once again I will say it,Tim Farr himself said it was a tough jump.  WHICH ONE OF YOU ARE A NATIONAL RIDER?  WHICH ONE OF YOU CAN EVEN KEEP UP ENOUGH TO SMELL HIS EXHAUST?  HE MADE IT CLEAR, I HAVE TO HIT IT HARD TO CLEAR IT.  ITS NOT EASY.  I am not saying its not do able, but it sure is not safe.

Have a merry Christmas and God bless.

i think we all agree that the track is very hard to ride!
for some of us that is a good thing; so we can practice for the nationals!
for some of us it is bad because we dont have the high dollar suspension to help with the big impacts!
for some of us it gives us room to improve!
for some of us it scares us away!

I TOO AM WILLING TO HELP the Sandmountain crew make the subtle changes that can keep us all happy Wink i feel that all you need is a dozer and about 4 hours to fix it! no dirt needed.

thats exactly why i go there. to get ready for the nationals. i know im not going to like all the tracks im going to race at and all there jumps are going to be just as if not bigger than sandmountain.

as for the high dollar suspension you can talk to the maverick about that he has rode that track many times with stock suspension on a rappy 350 and jumped every jump there including the step up not making it all the way and coming out fine maybee it was luck i dont know.

i love sandmountain and i think its the best track around. and yes they need to groom the track alittle better. but i will continue to go there no matter what they do.

i just hope this stuff wont decrease the turnout for the group ride. because this is a great place.

thanks SM.

These were some of the points that I was trying to make all along. I raced my 1st race at SandMountain and had it not been for their TT track I wouldn't have learned some of the things I did last year. I rode on the MX track the very 1st day it opened and it was fun... but it beat the hell outta me and I saw guys wrecking left and right. My main concern is with that stepup. A very dear friend of mine (he knows who he is) got hurt pretty bad but it coulda been alot worse. All I'm asking as a paying customer is that they make that landing safer than what it is. Not for me... for all quad riders. I was seeing Natalie constantly lock his rear brake and manuever his bike b/f landing to set that thing down just right. Not many of us on this site can do that. I doubt that it's going to get changed until someone or more than one gets seriously hurt.

Great input everyone. I think this has already turned to a more positive direction.

Our number at the shop is, 407-880-3171.

If any of the Sandmountain family would like to get a group of us together to come out and help please give us a call anytime. I would be more than happy to get some of the team riders out there. We could bring the quads out and go over the track one jump at a time.

Thanks Everyone.

We hear all of you and my wife just went to bed because I wont shut up about it. So give us some time to get togther and we will let everyone know.
I talked to Dale for about a 30 min. tonight and about 2 hours to other people
we will do our best to find a happy medium. So of you think we dont care this site has great things to offer if you need to take a poll (those that dont think we care or if you think we take to long) then do so no hard feelings this is what makes thinks work. All of this gets to my family and we do talk about it. Thank you all.........

Thank you for taking the time to even read an consider some of these issues that everyone has brought up. For myself being a business owner, that says a lot for your family. It shows that you do care about what your doing.

All of my crew will contiue to come to Sandmountain as long as you will let us in the gate, lol, and if we can help make it grow, we will also do what we can to help

Thanks,

OK!  You know Im gonna throw my .02 in!
We were out there for the very first race Sand Mountain ever had! And have been to almost every event out there since!
We were also very involved with helping give ideas about building the TT Track and very involved in promoting it publically!  These are the nicest, most modest, and family valued group of individuals I've ever seen as track owners!  They will listen!

The MX track is very big!  And it is very challenging!  Its very hard to build a track to suit both quads and dirtbikes!  The thing we have to remember is that it is very lucrative to service both!  And when you've invested the kind of money that Dale has (In building the track and fighting to keep it open) you definately want to maximize your return. I can promise you, he hasnt come close to doing that yet!  Its also very hard to service both quads and dirtbikes!

So, this is my suggestion!  Because the track is so big, there are portions that could be bypassed, and there are portions that could be added! That way you have the ability to still have the track the way it is for dirtbikes, and still not have to necessarily change too many things!  Ive seen this work wonderfully in the past for other tracks!

Any comments on doing that??? Smiley

I must agree that you are the nicest track owners that me and my family has ever met.  We have a ball on the TT track and my son just got his first trophy there.  It is special to my family like it is to many others families.   The bottom line I believe is MAINTANING the jumps and making the STEP-UP landing a little more user freindly or maybe allowing you to double it instead of tripling it.

Example:  Gator Back cut  its famous Elevator jump from 110' to 70' to make it managable.  Whats the point of having a jump that only very few can make and the rest die trying.  Its landing is flat on top and not a peak to get over.

Example:  Hardrocks water tower  can be doubled. tripled, or bypassed altogether.  This way everyone has fun on the same jump.

Expample:  Waldo's Mnt Waldo has a 30' to 40' step up but the landing is not so steep and is around 100' to 120' long.  The step up at SM could be made to be the same by pushing dirt around and I promise 90% of riders would make it.  Your hang time is still the same and just as much fun.

Every other jump at SM is fine if you just took care of the faces a bit more.  The overall track is fun just very rough.  Last time there were pot holes the size of man holes.

The bottom line is RTR is right, its impossible to make everyone happy.  Dale has   a valuable investment into the track and I agree that he has not seen that back yet.  If you agree to make small changes than great, if not thats ok too.  You know what your customers want  nothing else needs to be said.

Im completely satisfied at this point to know that the sandmountain family is definatly considering our suggestions! it is the 2nd closest track to my house(bithlo is the closest) and that is why id like to see some changes. my son is 6yrs old and will soon be looking to ride a bigger track but as of right now i will not let him on a track of that caliber. however with a few changes i could possibly be spending alot of time there Wink

I would like to start out by saying that SandMountain has done a great job at running a non-drama track(that is until Dreth decided he is god of the mx tracks).I am tired of everyone complaining, you guys are going to shut these tracks down by trying to bury them in requests.I also know that the track is alot better than most of the tracks in this area and they are more supportive to all of us.Everytime i have been out there it was more quads than bikes.Everyone needs to back off of these guys.If you don't like the jump don't hit it!You are not the mx track authority and do not have the right to point fingers or threaten these in anyway-The only people that will not enjoy themselves or kill themselves are those that ride stupid!!!!And if you realize that you are going to shut down the welcomes we have for quads-trust me we goto tracks that don't want us there and it is not fun!!!! I vote for a new mx king and please just stop with the complaining!!!!!!!!

First of all to you Dreth-only in your mind are you the King-You are not the best rider and your opinon is not that of all of us just you and your believers.Ithink that you are trying to do what you did with Sunshine,I don't like so i am going on here to keep everyone alse from liking it.That is real sad!!!You should just stay quiet.I did not see Natalie or Farr crash on it-so that means it is not impossible-just because you and one other person messed up on it does not mean it is unsafe and that is the only jump that is impossible the whole rest of the track is more than makable. On quads-So maybe your problem is you are not as good as you think you are!
I did not want this to be personal and the only reason i mention your name is because you are the one who started all of the complaints and ultimadums.I just want to be able to ride at places instead of being forced to ride trails and yoou and your clan keep bashing these tracks then that is what we will have left-they said they would look at everything and make a judgement your ultimadum was not warranted.I hope you see what i am saying and at least give the track a break-you guys can call me whatever you want-i only replied to this because i am pissed off about your lack of respect to sandmountain-i also know that people that i am friends with on this sight will get blamed for this and treated like crap so i chose to not let that happen-i have seen you guys do it and i am going to keep it from happening to my friends on this site.If you think calling me names is going to make me upset then you are wrong, call me whatever you want to just leave the track alone-they are happy to have us there and if you don't like it don't ride it!!!!!

And by the way Dreth,
Nice post and if you new anything you would know that i am a new member and only read this site before.I used to enjoy seeing the posts of how people enjoy the
local tracks but you could not do that could you!
They might make money if people who can ride would say good things about them
or maybe even people who are not so good but ride there would say these things in a polite way or if a complaint privately-but then i guess if you were any of the person you claim to be then we wouldn't be going back n forth would we!!!!!!!!
Last time i checked you don't own this site and The track has never done you wrong-you just can't ride so you go on here and make stupid comments because you had to watch a real rider hit the jump you can't!!!!!!

there,
is that personal enough for you-you guys are really going to bring our sport down!!!!

i dont see the track going from 50 people to 150 just because you change the big step up and if you change the whole track to be set up all for quads then youll lose the dirtbike riders so youll still be at 50 what they need to do is keep up on watering the track which last time i was there they did a excelent job at that the watering truck was out every couple hours.
