People need to understand if your not a expert rider don't try to clear those monster jumps. Dirt bike riders know this but for some reason quad rider are a little slow in the head, until a few trips to the hospital. I don't see a C-class dirt bike rider doing the step up but for some reason a C-class quad rider will try it. The funny thing is that they don't even do the smaller jumps smoothly and they trying to hit the triple or the step up, RETARDS. Those riders can't even conquer dade city!!!  3 Stooges Anyway keep the track the way it is, they will learn in time.  Wacko

Well... I've seen a couple former ProAm GNC riders that went out there the 1st day on the track and was clearing the stepup w/ no problem. All it took was one time and... He almost ended up at a hospital and Wayne and couple others can back me on that.

Dreth is by NO means a C Class jumper when it comes to airtime. One wrong landing and he was very lucky to have the injuries he had.

That young kid that was riding w/ Natalie Sunday... He by no means is a C-Class rider and almost broke his neck on this same jump. It's not riding over your head that is gonna get someone paralyzed or killed... it's the landing side of that jump. You may hit it perfect 20 times and then... Lips Sealed
Everyone should know to work their way into all MX tracks but that stepup is simply unsafe for quads. We'll see how many peeps get hurt trying to clear that thing when the FTR series gets here Undecided

I like to catch big air but if the jumps are out of my capability as smart C rider I will pass on the 50' ers or the triples or the large step ups.  You can make the large jumps a little more rider friendly by adding a table top type landings on some of the risky jumps for your average riders, or making a more height style jump instead of a distance jumps.  I have herd good things and bad things about all tracks. One thing you wont do is please everyone. I will have to check this place out for myself before I will make any comments about SandMountain MX.

Also I would like to add... Thanks Sandmountain for giving us ATVers more places to ride legally.... Wink

Well I will say I love going to SM & riding the TT track but as an inexpierienced mx rider I will not ride on the mx track because I see no easy way to roll it or even jump small. It looks way to rough for me so I will stick to the more easy mx tracks until I get myself ready.

. Here is my take and we are open for suggestions but if you are in a pinto and a Simi truck comes at you get out of the way.

Sand Mountain Family

once again, 90% of your quad riders are in pintos and about half of your track is a Semi truck! or is it like at most other tracks where quads dont count because there isnt enough of them? if the tracks were made more useable then alot of the quad riders would'nt get dicouraged and never come back. look at hard rock for another example! the tower jump offers a low impact blow by, the step up after the gravity cavity also offers a blow by! so the track is still fun and yet YOU PROS can still fly. they also offer 3 other tracks for those that dont like all the doubles and big air.

Im not trying to beat Sandmountain up with this , i just feel that a few minor changes could be made to improve the safety and rideability of the track for more than just A level riders. I too say thanks to sandmountain for giving us a place to ride and for listening to our voices.

I agree with the fact it needs some changes.  I have personally been there many times and watched the  dirt  bikes and very few of those make the step up.  I remember thinking about the triple that used to be in the front and watching two guys making it the whole day while there were over 40 rider on the track.

Whats the point?

I could barley double that old jump and I would never attempt the step up the way it is.  Mount Waldo is a good 60' to 70' of air time and its not dangerous at all.  I watched Tim Farr himself have to grab a bunch of back brake in the air at just the right time to make the landing.  Later after speaking with him, he told me he had to hit it really hard to clear the crest.  Thats a NATIONAL PRO saying these things not us yahoos.

You guys have a great place for ATV's and its alot of fun, but it seems like every time I have been there, there are more atv's than dirt bikes.  Why not make the track more ATV freindly?  Make the jump faces a little cleaner and not so steep.  Make the landings a little longer and not so steep.

You are hearing it hear on the forum full of riders, make the changes and get more business.  If not please lease me out a piece of land and I will make a track just for atv's.   We really need one.

Thanks for the OPEN EAR and have a great Christmas guys, we'll see you on the 1st.

forgive me for this but YOUR OPINION WAS NOT ASKED FOR! YOU DONT RIDE A QUAD SO STAY OUT OF THIS! Dont be offended by that statement because it was not directed at you but at dirt bikes.

That's where your wrong Junior. You have less weight, less wheels to worry about, your suspension even stock travels ahella lot longer than ours, you tires dig in thus giving you better grip and more speed out of corners, etc... etc.... etc.... And what is so amazing is that this is an ATV majority site and the voices of ATV's aren't really being considered. I love SandMountain but I'd think that they'd have an open ear alil more when it comes to quad safety. I'll continue to ride there regardless of what they choose to do. I just don't want someone ending up confined to a wheelchair for the rest of their lives bc a few peeps feel like that stepup is okay Sad

Thats the best quote I've heard on this forum so far.  I know kids on 85cc bikes that spank most 250 riders and probably half of the 450 riders.  Get a grip junior. Undecided

Am I wrong... You can't possibly sit there and type that it's easier to handle a quad in the air than on a bike. On a MX track period. You get beat up much more on a quad than on  a dirtbike. And as far as you hitting the jumps at SandMountain on your 350 Raptor I applaud you for it. But your skills are definitely not "Average" to be doing that. Your in a select group. Like I said... I have no reason to ride that track at all bc I don't wanna get hurt. I'm just trying bring up the safety issue for brothers like yourself. But.... I apologize for being worried about everyones safety. Leave the track like it is SM!

i am not trying say it is easier to handle a quad in the air than a dirtbike because that is impossible! i am saying the track is fine and all the jumps are MAKEABLE especially on a 450! if you cant handle the track maybe that should be a challange for you to up your skill level on a quad and on the track! i know thats why i like the track. when i started riding there i only hit one jump the first time there and after riding there time after time now i can hit them ALL! safety is an issue on all tracks! i have heard of people hurting themself getting off the track! if you dont want to get hurt and are scared dont hit the jump!

hahaha.... very funny. Wink it was a big rut and i crashed leaving the track woppy doo. i cant beleive i broke my collarbone. Nerd

as far as the track. LEAVE IT THE SAME. if a stupid ''c'' rider wants to go out and hurt himself let him do it maybee it will teach him a lesson. the jumps are fine maybee i am just saying this because i ride at sunshine and if you can clear the jumps there these jumps are nothing.(except the step up) because at sunshine all the jumps are right out of corners and your always squirlly and there are ruts on the faces and it will shoot you every wich way.

this is simple! you either care about our opinions and make changes or you dont! this is not my fight, i was more thinking about those C class, stupid, lower class pinto riders that pay their hard earned money to ride at your track only to get hit by one of these not so considerate A class riders or that Semi truck that was earlier mentioned Bang Head
