hey, my friend has a 05 ktm 125sx, and he was changing the engine oil today. it was ready to be changed and very black. when we took the drain bolt out, there were metal filings on the screw. it looked like a magnent when you stick it in metal shavings. we know its not supposed to be like that. is this going to damage the bike? does anyone no what part it might have come off of? does it probably need to be replaced?

thanks

Im not a pro, but I am sure it is just some filings from the engeine being broken in, the drainplug is most definitely a magnet, to hold the shavings there and not allow them back into the engine.

If it was the first oil change, I wouldn't worry too much.
Although my grizzly doesn't have a magnet on the drain plug (nor does my F-150), I count on my oil filter to catch that crap.

Big 15 said it right.  It should be just from the "new" motor breaking in, shouldnt have to worry about it!!!
