What is the best octane rating for Quads?  I heard the 87 octane will run cooler than using 93 octane.  I use 93 octane in my raptor now and wondering if Im using the right stuff..

well arent you lucky...i just did a science experiment on this and after a minute of burning... 93 octane burns about 40 degrees celsius cooler than 87 octane

got a good grade and definetely go with premium 93

The 93 should burn cooler. Don't use anything higher than 93 because you have a stock motor and dont use anything lower than 90 because it burns way hotter.

I run 110 in mine, but I don't have to,,,,it's jetted for it though.

I like the way it runs on the higher stuff rather than the 93.

gotta look for them, go to a local car performance shop(I'm sure there's one nearby) and ask them.

I have a couple of places depending on funding/time available but they are in the central FL area.

You can also mix the higher octane with the lower octane and make your own brew. Wink

Dave Pletcher Racing on 62nd Ave and about 45th st  Behind the bread store. Hole shot sucks, Their gas sits for weeks/months at a time and Pitte Posse was always high on price. I used to pay 5.20 a gallon for 114 at Pletchers. Check'm out

I ran 87 octane in my raptor once by accident, it sounded like the engine was going to blow up.  It was knocking a lot, and it ran like sh!t.  Dont use anything less than 93, trust me.   Wink

i used 87 in my crf 230 and it was running horribly. I try to put 93 in it at all times now. RAPTOR 700 YOU HAVE A STOCK ENGINE, IN A STOCK ENGINE DO NOT PUT ANYTHING HIGER THEN 93 BECAUSE YOU WILL MESS IT UP.

oh and before you create another post asking this. It wont be good for your cars, boat, or jet ski

Ideally you want to run the lowest octane possible WITHOUT detonation. Higher the octane the more resistance it has to spark.  I love watching idiots at the drag strip put race fuel in their stock compression/timing car and run slower and wonder why.  Try running 89 and if it doesn't ping you should be fine.  -Mark
