betchya thought this was another religious thread huh?

nah, just my thoughts on the Honda 250R.

I rode one for the first time this last week, and all I can say is,,,,why did Honda EVER stop making these beautiful, powerful, shut-up-and-hold-on quads?

Yes, it was a 2 stroke and it would whoop you. Everyone knew that the banshee was going to be discontinued as also will the rest of the 2 stroke motors still made due to emisions regulations set by the EPA.

havent ridden one but have smoked a few. I rode the 3 wheeler version in the 80s. The 3 wheelers were lighter and faster in a straight line.
Ida have you ridden a YFZ or 450r?

It's really stupid that they discontinued the "Banshee"  It was the ultimate Dune quad.  And only 2-Stroke 2-Cylinder Quad that was mass produced..

No argument there, Cut. You wouldn't want none though if we raced 300 ft. but had a big jump at 150ft. and had to turn around at the end and race back Grin Your bike is in a whole different class than my little wore out, abused, dirty, stock, pump gas running, trail bike Tongue Git it RAG

Honda needs to grow a brain and make a 250R chassis with a CRF450 motor a production quad. It would sell like hotcakes.

I rode a 450 and I wasn't impressed. For 450cc's I didn't feel any low end and it didn't pull up top like I thought it would. I'd take a R over any newer quad.  Almost 20 years gone by and this quad is still in demand and feared by some. I love it.  They stopped making 2 strokes because of crying environmental 4 stroke owners.  CC for CC 4 strokes will NEVER win.   -Mark

I raced a 250R for years. I loved it to death. The greatest thing since sliced bread. Then came the new four strokes. They are by far better than a 250R in my opinion. I even kept my 250R in case I wasn't happy with my 450R. I have gotten faster since I have been riding a 4 stroke. Also in the past when FTR was seperating the 4 stroke from the 2 strokes, the 4 stroke classes were always turning faster lap times. It didn't matter what class, A, B, or C the four strokes were faster. The power is smoother and always right  there on a 4 stoke.

i have had.. a 250r and 2 trx450r's..
the r was a great snappy bike.. it had great power and was fun to ride..
it was a rag and a half but great powered bike..
but it wasnt anything compared to the trx450r i had before it..
it was a rag after 8 months too but...... the 450r a 182 main jet no airbox lid.. and there's no way a r was catching it..
and the 05 trx450r i have now with a two brother's and same jet and no air box lid and kenda's.. nnnoooppppeeee..
and a r would make u smell after riding it and mixing the gas there's no way i would sign up for that again..
and i havnt ever rode a banshee but i heard there great drag bike's...
but ima 4 stroker all the way..

They ride what the manufactor tells them to ride or they don't get paid. Simple as that. If it were they're choice I'm sure you wouldn't hear a bunch of wet farts on the starting gate. Wink
