Can I Do This?

Everybody obviously knows I'm having technical difficulties with my four-wheeler... But I have been looking at performance parts on HL and I think that my fourwheeler is giving me problems because the cylinder head is scratched which I will have to bore it out. Would it be okay if I just bore it out 40 Over since I am going to have to get it bored anyways? I am wanting to get the High Compression 40 Over Pistons, Jet Kit, SuperTrapp Exhaust and whatever else comes in the kit. But now some people are telling me not to do it because it could do more damage or something like that but i dont understand why HL would sell it if it would damage your fourwheeler. Please let me know. Thanks Chris

Yeah you can go with the .040 high comp. piston. But I would opt for a camshaft with a different lift and duration , a valve job , and some valve springs to compliment it. Or you could just go one size over and be done. If youre looking for stump pulling power go out and get a job and save up for a big bore bike . Jason

I would just do a bore over, just enough to get the cylinder walls clean and true. Get all the bolt on hop ups and you will gain the most for less.

You can do that kit but you need to get the motor solid first. Ecspecially if its the rod knocking, because you will most likely need a new crank.
If you feel the need for a Hi-compression piston, sell the bike and get a big bore. The high comp. piston will not increase the motors longevity. You can have the cylinder bored out 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.0 MM. The thinner the cylinder wall (bigger bore) the more heat it will produce and generally lower longevity.
If all you need is the piston, pin and ring set, you can get those for around $100 plus the cost of boring the cylinder. Pretty cheap if it only needs a top end. If it needs a bottom end your looking at $250 more.

I dont want to offend you but by the way you are asking these questions I dont think you are qualified to take your motor apart. At least get a friend that knows what a crank is to help you.
