Well today when I pulled my bike out of the garage, without pressing on the throttle it was moving forward, like an automatic car does. The dealer said it was my clutch that needed to be replaced. I was wondering how hard it is to replace the clutch? He said the clutch itself would be $400 and to get it installed would be another $100. So, instead of buying the clutch from him, I am gonna go on Highlifter or a performance atv site. I would like to install it myself instead of paying $100. Does anyone know of a good place to get a clutch kit from? Thanks.

P.S. It is for an 02 Polaris Sportsman 500.

i bought my clutch kit from highlifter and installed myself.  it was pretty easy if you ask me.  instructions were detailed and the guys at highlifter were very helpful, if i had any questions.  without a doubt the best technical support i had with that grizzly problems.  highlifter gets my vote.

First try to adjust the cable on the lever first. If it's still moving without throttle sounds like your friction plates are wore out. A clutch replacement isn't hard. Just pay attention to detail and take pictures. Any shop will rape you on labor for something that can be done in less than an hour.  -Mark

I was reading on Highlifter that after installed, the clutch kit would affect the top speed. Does it affect the top speed negatively or postively? I mostly ride in the mud anyways, so a little difference in top speed wouldnt be much of a big deal.

does not affect top speed much, a few miles per hour less....nothing that you will know about....it also helps in the mudd because your clutch won't engage until the rpm's are higher...

i am not positive that it will solve your problem....because i have never heard of a clutch causing your problem, but the guys at highlifter should not lead you in the wrong direction....i am just familiar with changing the clutch out itself.  sorry can't be of anymore help...
