I just wanted to throw this out and see what you guys think. We have rides all the time for the entire family and usually the guys go off one way and the kids and mom another and both at different paces or speeds which is great. When I say KIDS I mean under 10 or 8 even. What if we had a group ride juts for the little one at there pace. That way we could all be watching over one another and it would make the kids feel like they have a place in our community too. A weekend just for them. Just a slow easy cruise with a big weenie roast or something. Anyone want to add Idea's or has this been done or is nobody into it.Huh? We have all the time in the world to try and plan it to fit everyones schedule, it could be oct,nov or dec thats not an issue in my eyes.
What do you think?  Wink

I'm all for it, of our nine, four are still 7 and under with the 6y/0 and 7y/0 having their own quads. The possibilities are endless as far as games/ riding workshops etc.  Grin

How about some input from those that have organized previous rides???  Where would be the safest place to have as a camp and launch point?? I personally think scrub is wayy too busy, and I don't know allot about the northern part of ONF if that is where it would be held??
Need input   Dunno

im in as long as its in the month of november! its to hot out there for the kids right now.

RODMAN DAM is a good place because of the wide open pit! we could rope off a big section and build a small track. i have a way to grade it so its not so rough.
OR we could try to rent the sand track at hard rock for a day.
OR we could just go on a trail ride by IDA MANSs cabin! its not that busy or whooped out over there

I'm in no hurry it can be nov dec january even. I just would like it to be kinda well planned and centered around them. It could be a track set up or like the wide space under the power lines it doesn't matter. I got some things I need to handle as far as my situation over the next month but if we can get more input I'l get with the Mod's and make this a true event. I am soooo thankful that some folks feel like I do. I think ONF anywhere would be ideal because of the centralized location. Unless someone has a bunch of acres we could used but thas's unlikely.  Thumbs Up
thanks dreth.

I'll support it any way possible. I'll talk to the Forest Service people and see if I can use a radio for emergencies. Maybe they can have someone come out and give a short presentation to the kids. Just give me a date.

Is there someone that organized the last rides or was it a group effort or how does it work. This is a great thing and I want to see it happen. I'm not sure because of my limited knowlege of doing group ride, that I can coordanate it all. I think its going to be big, as the kids deserve and should be. Besides It will be a BLAST for the parents too. Who doesn't enjoy it when that helmet comes off and there is a muddy smile from ear to ear.
Does anyone know if there is a week in nov, dec, jan or feb that its slow at Rodman and it won't be race week or gay rights ride or Rainbow people week?? These are the things I need help on. Help! ?? Should it be a weekend event or one day?  etc etc....  Crap

My son asked me out of the blue if we could have a kids ride.  November is good for us, or after that.

Maybe we should move this to the group rides and events topic?

The mods may move it but it will get much more exposure here, I hope they leave it here. Jan or Feb looks realistics and will give folks time to prepare. I need help putting this together, I've never done it and have other physical issues that will take away from my capabilities of doing it alone. I really REALLY want this to happen.
 Help!

I'll do whatever I can to help. Usually these things just come together as the date approaches. We can get people lined up to bring food, grills, beverages, canopies for shade/shelter and whatever else we can think up.

I'm in as well. Be glad to help watch the little ones. I agree with Dreth though either do it at Rodman or everyone pitch in and let's rent a facility for the day. If we do it in the forest we just have to be careful from Nov.-Jan due to Hunting season but there is no hunting at Rodman so it would be a good place anytime. Ida's would also be nice due to all the shady areas but I won't be riding in that area till after Hunting season is over.
