IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA  DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE SEPTEMBER 1st  HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT UP THEIR BEHIND " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THESE TWO NATIONS SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.  WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT THE

SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS SHIPPED.  THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC.  WHO PAYS IN THE END?  WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE.  IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT

AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD.    MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES AND CANADA  SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Unfortunately, considering that the 1st is tomorrow... I have a feeling that this isnt going to work. I havent heard any radio or tv stations mention anything about this... so chances are... not enough people are going to know about it to even leave a dent in the big mans pocket. As good of an idea as it is, it seems unlikely to work.

If you want to hurt the gas companies then walk, run, ride a bike instead of driving your car. Lower the demand, lower the price. How about we have a "Drive Your ATV to Work Day"

Great on gas and a hell of lot more fun  Grin

People still need to purchase gas. If they did not do it on the 1st, then they would either need to buy it today for tomorrow, or buy more of it on Friday. The gas companies won't choke but if you don't buy it then you may be walking.

I agree with Yunt. One day of no gas doesn't mean anything. Only thing it means is that gas sales will double the next day.  Best way to hurt them is buy a little gas as possible. So pump up the air on your huffy/bmx/whatever.  Conserve.  -Mark

Cheesy LOL. But think of all the excercise you get. Wink I thought I had it bad with 18 miles from work. I wonder if we had mass transit if gas prices would be cheaper?  -Mark

Guys lets be real unil they build more refineries to process the oil and
drive cars the that get better mileage. It will be the same old same.
How many of us are going to give up our big cars and trucks to drive
some little econo-car that gets great mileage????They have large luxury
diesel cars in Euroge  that can get 35-40 mpg all day long.If we could
formulate diesel here  to meet new emissions standards that would be
the ticket.

I've heard of this before but I also heard we would only be hurting ourself's instead of the oil companies. I heard of another idea similar to this one that consisted of not buying gas from certain companies. Not sure that any of these would even work but I'll do what I can.  Smiley

I tell you what I'm going to do....

I'm not going to buy the 31st, 1st, 2nd, or 3rd-but I'll probably have to go fill up on the 4th-That will teach them--------

yeah right!!  I'll just have to buy the gas at a higher price-not affecting/hurting any body but my wallet.

In reality, If everyone would fill up there tanks every day. It would save you money and cost the fuel companies money. Because by waiting until you are almost empty to fill up, the price of gas goes up considerably when you wait a few days. You would end up saving several dollars each week and by you saving it then it would be not giving it to the fuel suppliers.

Here's another email that has been circulating.  I don't think this would work either.  It sounds like just another chain mail someone is trying to get around.

I hear we are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer. Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.
Jim Copeland offered this good idea:

This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May!

The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work.

Please read it and join with us!

By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $2.75 for regular unleaded in my town.

Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50-$1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace.... not sellers.

With the price of gasoline going up more each day, we consumers need to take action. The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves.

How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas. But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.

 Here's the idea:

For the rest of this year, DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit.

But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't wimp (sic) out on me at this point... keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!!

I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300)... and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000) .... and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers!

If those three million get excited and pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all you have to do is send this to 10 people and DON"T purchase ANY gasoline from EXXON and MOBIL. That's all.

How long would all that take? If each of us sends this email out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference.

If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on.

PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK

Funny how this worked out isn't it?  Maybe a conspieracy  yesterday (9/1) their were lines at all the gas pumps at least an hour long!!!!  Does anybody else see the irony in this?  Boycott gas pumps on 9/1 and it was probably one of the most profitable days.

I waited till I needed gas for the weekend and filled up this morning about 6:15 at Costco in Altamonte Springs.

Premium is what my truck takes, and there was no line, and $2.86 a gallon.

that's about $.20 more per gallon than last week about this time, so I'm not complaining much.

this whole "gas shortage" thing is made up in everyone's mind.
