You don't need reverse on the track, unless you plan on going backwards. These are two different bikes so one is not better than the other. They are both awsome quads for what they are built for. The YFZ450 is great on the track and the 700 is great in the woods.

Honestly, that was a pretty simple question that you could've answered for yourself. If you know quads you should know that the YFZ450 is a "TRACK BIKE". That sums it up there Roll Eyes. If you want reverse, then get the Raptor. They're both very good bikes but on the track one is better than the other...

I'd take a better handling more refined machine over reverse any day.

A 686cc single? That gives new meaning to the term "thumper".

DirtWheels Mag just did a shootout this month on the 700R Vs. the YFZ 450 and the only thing that the YFZ has over the 700R is the suspension, which is why the YFZ is still better on the track.

How many pros do you see riding any type of Raptors?  The yfz will do you good in any condition.

The yfz is not the best trail quad.Every year they have been making the spring rates softer,so you can get a plusher ride, and of course no reverse.Once again it is a killer on a mx track.

i went to cahills yesterday and they had a brand new raptor 700r  and they said the raptor is faster but the yfz is a better track bike  the raptor willl have no problem betting the yfz in a drag. The raptor 700r has fuel injection so it is really fast. BUT THE YFZ IS STILL THE BEST TRACK BIKE.

maybe the pros aren't riding any raptors because they dont meet the engine displacement rule.  also the YFZ's have better suspension.  thats it.

YFZ will be faster and have more precise handling on the track or in the woods period. If you want a fun trail bike, that you won't have to ride balls to the wall on full time then the rappy 700 is a great choice.

even though the new 700R has a YFZ front end minus the suspension it still will never be as fast or ride better than a YFZ. Maybe if you want comfort with a way improved everything from the old raptor then the 700R is your one to pick. But the YFZ will dominate the new raptor on a track. Dirtwheels even said that the YFZ is still way more peppy. But the YFZ suspension bolts right up to the new 700R with no problem at all...

There is a guy on TRX450R.org that has a new Raptor. He used to have a Honda 450R. He has nothing but good thing to say about the Raptor. If I was going to buy a new quad I would wait until the dealer show next month to see all of the new models and improvements to the old ones.
