We got some strong wind, knocked over some trees in the neighborhood and blocked some roads.  Some how, my power grid stayed on, but everyone more than 3 blocks in any direction lost power.

I lost power yesterday around 4:00 PM, and I just got it back today around 4:00 PM.  But I had my whole house running on a generator the whole time, so I was ok, even though I burned 25 gallons of gas in it.  Cool

hey guys i'm back. thanks for all your concerns and glad to hear the purelogics are doing ok. we just got power restored. well let me fill you in. we live on the dade/broward line and we got the center of the eye.(i think there was a bullseye painted on my roof). we lost power right in the middle of my wife cooking dinner-food gone to waste. let me tell ya being in the eye is the most eerie thing. it was bad for a while and then it suddenly calmed down. the silence was freaky. no noise, wind, rain, animals, crickets, nothing. i dont know whos seen the movie hide and seek but all i can hear is  a drop of water falling into the sink. drip, drip, drip. while we were in the eye i went and got us chinese rice(they were actually open). sure enough after a while it picked up and thats when we got the worst of it. well the tarp held up with the sandbags weighing it   down preventing the wind from catching it.  we had 4 sets of drops coming in which wasnt that bad. i aint waiting no more, next week i'm getting some estimates and fixing my roof. gotta tell ya it feels great coming on and seeing your responses and concerns. thanks to all of you and praise god we are all doing fine.

Well Gery I am glad to hear that you are ok! I kept calling my wife and asking if you had signed on yet!!! I was at Port Everglades untying  the cranes and some of the feeder bans came through. Boy let me tell you what….200 feet up in the air and right next to the ocean…wow.. My glasses kept getting salt water on them. Not to mention I have to hold on with both hands.

had the day off today for hurricane cleanup. went out to coribitt area and put up my tree stand. then came home and went for an atv ride behind the regal cinema. we did not even get a half inch of rain yesterday. more rain today than yesterday. got to get to bed early and go bow hunting.

Hey, I've chatted w/ your son online many times.  Most of the kids on here know who I am.  I was looking forward to meeting you at the unknown place for Labor Day weekend.  Unfortunately, it seems the last I've heard you all aren't going to  be coming.  Sorry to hear that.  It will be a great weekend and if you can make it please reconsider.  I'm glad that you all are ok!  One of these days I'll end up meeting up w/ you.

purelogic- thanks for the invite-we are all gonna meet up someday.
pig, did someone say pig. like every other cuban out there i  have to say it  " you aint tried pig until you've tried mine" its funny cause every cuban thinks they're an expert at making it.

qt- thanks for the concerns, again hopefully when it all dries up we will eventually meet up with everyone.

hey quick joke for ya:

how many cubans does it take to change a lightbulb?

3, 1 to change the bulb, and the other two to hold the ladder and talk about how bulbs were so much better in cuba. Grin

power, no power, power, nopower........!

we got power back friday and lost it saturday. fpl came by and popped the fuse on the pole behind my house cause of that downed power line i spoke of earlier. they said it was dangerous to have a live downed power line(what do they know) Grin. well still no power, running on an extension cord from across the street. drove around the entire neighborhood and did not see one bucket truck. man its hot.

bit of advice.
start getting WRITTEN estimates. my roof got damaged and i had a couple roofers come out and told me about 4,500-5,000.00 and the insurance estimated 2,000.00. well the insurance told me to send them the estimates. well since they were verbal i dont have any written estimates and am now trying to get them. in the meantime i will fix my roof and continue my battle with the insurance company.
oh yeah, an adjuster also told me when i deposit the check to write "accepted as partial payment" and that way they cant close the claim.
