As most of you are aware the county commission for the last few months has stated there position on the ATV Park has been that it is tabled. and stated this was due to Hurricane Recovery as many projects were sidelined due to the storms and clean up efforts. I tried to keep this effort in the fore- front by meeting with the new commissioners, and getting folks to e-mail or call them to show there was still a massive effort.

Well the following is on the agenda for the commission meeting, next Tues. :

5. PURCHASING

A. Permission to advertise an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for Lease of 750 Acres of Cattle Land at the Airport – Consider staff recommendation to grant permission to advertise an Invitation for Bid (IFB) for Lease of 750 Acres of Cattle Land at the Airport.

The full agenda can be viewed, as well as e-mail addresses at:
http://www.stlucieco.gov/index.htm

This appears to be the same land that we have been working to place an ATV park on for 2 years. They can't come out and tell us Yes or No just that it has been sideleined. Now they are going to put the land out for another cattle lease. Once that lease is signed the land is locked up.

This is very fustrating  Angry,  politics at it's best. This will be the final straw so if you feel like contacting a commissioner or showing up at the meeting and speaking please do so.

I don't understand why they would want to make only a few thousand dollars over the next few years when they could make a few million??? Huh

Plan:  Lease the property.  Put a couple few cows on it, use the ATVs to "herd" the animals every chance you get.

this is my email
So its just that simple? We don't count? I can remember for the past two years that the OHV community has been trying to get the property by the airport for off highway use and now its for lease without bringing it back up for a vote like it was supposed to be before the hurricanes hit. This matter was never finished due to the hurricanes and I feel that as commissioners it is your elected duty to find out why! At the last meeting we had over three hundred supporters and we were prepared to bring atleast three times that to the next meeting to show just how bad this area needs an OHV park! There has already been a sound (DB) check to prove that the traffic on indrio rd and the airplanes are far more noisy the atvs and dirtbikes! The OHV community has offered to build the park themselves if you would just grant them the land. There is allot of money to be made in this sport, way more than a cattle lease! So my question is........................is this politics at its finest?...........................or just a minor oversight! We were on the agenda before the storms for this matter and it was not finished so why does it look to be finished now?!

Just a thought here. Lets get the lease. Anyone familiar with the process and the going rate per acre? If we all put in a few dollars maybe we can get them to approve the land use after we get the lease? I wonder how long the lease is for? Didn`t that trailer park about blow away last year . Thinking it muct have at least thinned the park out. lol Its amazing how they rushed out to dump hundreds of thousands of dollars ,if not millions, into golf course repair after the hurricanes. But they can not even give us the time of day . I think they already rezoned it . So we need a variance of land use and of course to get the lease. Any thoughts on this? Price of cattle lease etc? I`m willing to go a couple of hundred for my lease membership. Start my own St Lucie riding spot. Who is in ?
