Last night on the Local Government TV, We were watching a recent B.O.C.C(Board of County Commissioners) meeting and they had public speakers. One of the gentlemen that got up was an ATV rider and made some really good points trying to get more ATV land opened in the county. As some of you may know Polk County is home to many many phosphate pits. This gentleman proposed that instead of making the phosphate companies restore the land back to orginal open it up to ATVs since it is already torn up. One good point that he did make is that he is a disabled veteran and loves to watch birds and wildlife but he cannot get into the wildlife without his ATV and threatened a suit against the state that he cannot access wildlife areas without his "Motorized Crutches." He was not just trying to get it opened for just hanicapped, but all of us. Josh and I are going to get in touch with him because he has researched many issues regarding this. We are thinking to start local instead of at the state and we are going to try and get as many people as possible to show up at one of the meetings so there is no room except for the ATV'ers and supporters. We are going to start planning all this when we get back from the Eureka Ride.
