Hey everyone, I'm going to be in the Orlando area from Dec 27 - Jan 5 (dates are somewhat flexible).  Looking for info on places to ride and if there are any people planning trips I could join in.  I have a 07 Yamaha Grizzly 700 with 28" zillas.  Mostly interested in trail riding and mud.

It's just going to be me so I'm trying to decide if its worth bringing my Grizzly with me.

We ride at 5A every Saturday. It's at MM 231 off of I-95 near Scottsmoor. Its got everything, trail riding, mud and water if you want them. There's rumors that they are going to close the place down at the end of the year, but we have heard these rumors for years.

I'm going to be just outside of Orlando.  I don't mind driving though or camping for a few days so pretty flexible on location.

Is your Grizzly snorkeled ?  The guys I have been riding with love the water and you should be snorkeled if you ride with us. If you aren't, you are still welcome to ride with us and we won't go into the very deep water. We just ride on Saturdays at 5A.

My wife and I ride the Centennial Trail at the Ocala National Forest during the week. You would have to bring some stock tires to ride there with us, as mud tires aren't allowed. It's $10.00 for a three day pass.

We are older riders, but we ride as if we were in our 30's. Bob is almost 77 and Mike and I are 68 years young. My wife is 67, but we don't even unload our atvs at the forest, if we can't ride over 100 miles a day.

Thanks for all the info and the offer to ride.  Unfortunately I'm not snorkeled (its been on my list but around here we don't have a ton of deep water to ride).  Also didn't realize that you couldn't ride down there with mud tires.  I do have a set of 26" ITPs in addition to my Zillas that I can put on for trail only stuff, but they are still a mud lug.  Sounds like I should leave the grizzly at home.

I hear ya about not acting your age though, I'm 40 here but almost everyone assumes I'm still in my 20s... gets a little old sometimes. lol

OK, no problem. Mud tires are OK down here except in the Ocala Nat Forest. Hope I didn't confuse you. Larry

I remember when Larry started riding. Now he is one of the professionals! Go get em, Larry!  Wink Cool

You still pulling with that little Kia (or whatever it was!). I'll never forget you out at the Pumpkin Run with your car on the only piece of green turf left. That was classic! Wish I had taken a photo of that!

Professional I am not !!!  I don't even know how to change brake pads on my ATV.

The reason I respond to so many of these threads is because nobody else will reply. This guy wanted someone to ride with and nobody replied. I figured I'd make an offer for him to join us at 5A or join my wife and I at the Ocala Nat Forrest. To be honest with you, I don't want anyone to join us at the ONF cause they hold us up. Too many breaks and too long of breaks. That's why I didn't join that ride last week. We went to  the Centennial Trail yesterday and we drove 122.4 miles. It's getting harder to go that far now that it's getting darker sooner. It was dark when we got back to the trail head, but we did get to see a bear right before we got back.

Face it ! This site is dead ! If members would just be a little more active, we could bring it back again. Asmart82, I know that you were just kidding around. I'd really like you to join us at 5A sometime soon before it gets closed down. I think that you're snorkeled if I remember right. There's only two of us riding tomorrow as of now and we're meeting at the 5A parking lot at 8 AM sharp. We will be in some deep water before the day is out!

Larry

P/S I used to drive a Hyundai Elantra but it really was too hard on the car when pulling two bikes, so I up graded to a Hyundai Santa Fe. It's still a car and still a 4 cylinder, but it really pulls the ATVs great. BTW, it was a couple of days after that Pumpkin Run that you mentioned that I bought the Santa Fe.

FYI - we stopped 2x during last week's 4 hr. ONF ride! Once for about 2 minutes and once for a 15" lunch break.

Wow! I'd ride with you guys anytime ! I've rode with Jim from Jax before and I remember that he doesn't like too many breaks.  Did anybody set their trip meter to see how many miles you went?

I set my trip meter and I think it said about 40+ miles when we stopped riding for the day. I was just a short, quick fun ride. Look forward to riding with Aintsceered and MudBucket2 again. I will probably be down in the ONF for a least a week during Christmas if anyone feels like getting together for a ride or two.
