I just moved to Florida. The Sanford/Deltona area and thinking about getting back into sport atvs. (Got my eye on a raptor 700). Not planning on doing anything fancy just field and woods/trails.  I know every state has different regulations you have to follow. Just wondering if you guys could fill me in on florida's.   Grin

buddy in all honesty ur asking in the wrong website, these old-fat fools r only gonna tell u to ride in private atv parks and the funny thing is most of them ride in public lands like i do.,,just look for woods n dirt roads/trials in ur area on goggle maps and go explore them.if its public lands and there isnt a sign within 150ft of ur sight, cops cant do sh*t legally.and if its private lands only  the owner can press charges if there is a sign posted or it will never stick in court... Whatever you do, don't listen to any cr500pro says. He's a lying, broken cuban not a very nice person who only comes here in between trips to the welfare office. Truth is, he doesn't even have a bike of any kind.

Is this website all about trolling ? Or did I read it right thought it said atv florida. So far nobody has been on topic with the acception on my first reply. I'm not asking who I should listen to or who has what / does what. All I wanted to know is who actually knows florida's atv laws/regulations for riding. So I can decide what needs to be done and hopefully enjoy riding again. Other then that Idc.

Rules and regulations?  It's simple.

Actually own your ATV. Make sure it's not stolen.

Ride only where you're supposed to ride. Don't trespass.  The illegal immigrant cr500pro has no clue what he's talking about.

Don't ride on the roads.  It's illegal.

That's really about it.

In other words,  don't be a dumbazz.

Okay

I heard it was legal to ride on streets that don't exceed 35 mph true or no?
Is it mandatory to have a title ? I will try to get 1 with it but somtimes can score good deals because they don't ( how hard is it to get title from DMV with bill of sale. Anybody actually do it?) and defiantly run the vin before I buy it. I don't support thieves.
I heard I have to take an atv riders course and receive certificate to ride public lands?

Do I need some sort of registration/ inspection sticker to ride parks/ public land ?

Any thing you need/want to know can be found by reading the information here http://www.atvsafety.gov/legislation/FloridaLaw.pdf and here http://www.flhsmv.gov/html/OHVGuide.pdf

Quick read

Off-Highway Vehicles
In Florida, both ATVs and OHMs fall under the umbrella of off-highway vehicles (OHVs). What exactly is an OHV? It's defined by state lawmakers as any ATV, two-rider ATV, or OHM meant to be used off the state's roads and highways, and that isn't registered and licensed for highway use.

With that in mind, here's how the state defines ATVs and OHMs:

ATV
This is a motorized vehicle meant for a single rider. It will be 50 inches or less in width, with an unladen dry weight of 1,200 pounds or less. It travels on three or more low-pressure tires, and has a seat that the operator straddles. It also has a handlebar-type steering control.

OHM
An OHM is described as any motor vehicle that travels on 2 or fewer wheels, and is meant for use off of Florida roads and highways. It should also feature a seat for the rider. This doesn't include mopeds or tractors.

ATV/OHM Titling, Registration, and Licensing
All OHVs purchased after July 1, 2002, need to be titled. If you bought your OHV before that and use the vehicle on public lands, your vehicle also needs a title.

The titling fee is $45 for a paper title. Apply for the title at a county tax collector or driver license office. Be sure to complete a title application and follow the procedures listed in the state's OHV titling brochure.

For ATVs, the title decal must be affixed in a clearly visible spot on the left rear quadrant of the vehicle. For OHMs, the decal goes on the left fork leg, in a location easily visible from the left side of the bike. Need to see a picture? The state provides visual guidance in its OHV brochure.

Additional Information
The state Division of Forestry provides additional information on OHV use, including public and private riding areas.

The Laws Regarding:  riding unpaved roads.. source http://www.meldonlaw.com/library/offroad-and-recreational-vehicle-use-and-laws-atvs-rovs-ohms.cfm

In Florida, an ATV, ROV and OHM cannot be operated on a public road, street or highway. The only exception is that they may be operated on a unpaved public roadway where the posted speed limit is less than 35 miles per hour and only during daytime (Fla. Stat. §316.2123).

An ATV, OHM or ROV operator under 16 years of age must be supervised by a licensed driver and must wear a helmet and eye protection.  In addition to direct supervision, eye protection, over-the-ankle boots, and a safety helmet, those under 16 who want to operate the off-highway vehicle on a public land must also pass a safety course  (Fla. Stat. §261.20(3)).

The operator of an off-highway vehicle may not carry a passenger unless a vehicle is specifically designed by the manufacturer to carry an operator and a single passenger (i.e. two-rider ATV).

Anyone who violates the above-mentioned laws commits a noncriminal infraction and is subject to a fine of not less than $100. In addition, he or she might be prohibited from operating an off-highway vehicle on public lands. The fine for a second or subsequent violation or for a violation with intent to defraud is not less than $500. (Fla. Stat. 261.20(6)).

A low-speed vehicle may be operated on the streets only if the posted speed limit is 35 mph or less. (Fla. Stat. §316.2122). However, the rider of a low-speed vehicle may cross a road or street at an intersection where that road or street has a higher speed limit. In addition to being equipped with headlamps, stop lamps, turn signal lamps, tail lamps, reflex reflectors, parking brakes, rearview mirrors, windshields, seat belts, and vehicle identification numbers, a low-speed vehicle must be registered and insured and its operator must always have in its possession a valid driver's license.

Mcleary333, just because you run the title against the report for stolen bikes and quads means nothing. If it don't have a title I can almost guarantee it was never paid off to the bank who loaned money against it. I have had several of the good deals show up as still being owned by the bank. If you were caught the bank has every right to take it back. No title, no sale. Every excuse of why no title is a lie that has grown between the owners who don't care about the law and will not be legally riding. You can only ride on a dirt road that has speed limit of less than 35 and must be 16

Countless folks care.  You see, unlike you, I really do have an incredible career,  a great education,  a wonderful family, amazing friends and a large income. You, on the other hand, are basically retarded day labor.

The difference here is that anyone who's actually met Anoriginal has seen what he is, his respect for order(law) and how he actually supports our motorized access to public lands. He doesn't just pay lip service and advocate anarchy.
