Money for a ATV park in south Florida????

Apparently there is money for an ATV park in Collier County that hasn't been used. Don’t know if it’s true or not but check out this page and give them a like and share it.. Been hearing a lot of complaints about not having a place to ride in south Florida.. NOW!! is the time to stand up and help or quit complaining..
From their Face Book page...
This Page has been created to help bring awareness to the Collier County Residents regarding the settlement between Water Management and Collier County Commissioners to create an Off-Road Ride Facility. Approximately 7 years ago the residents of Collier County pushed the issue to have a facility that allowed off-road riding facility. Water Management settled with Collier County Commissioners for Three Million Dollars and that money is supposed to be used for the County to set up an ATV Off-Road Park. Collier County Commissioners have created an ATV Hock Committee to assist them in locating a parcel of property suitable for an atv park. This property can be leased, purchased or partnered with a private land owner to accommodate the need for the park. There are approximately 5 facilities that have been aggressively pursuing the Hock Committee and Collier County Commissioners to assist them in providing property for an off-road facility. As of today and many years later we still do not have a park to legally ride at. There have been many deaths due to not having a designated park to ride our off-road vehicles at. Why hasn’t the Commissioners partnered with one of the 5 facilities pursuing them to allow us ride? How much longer is this process going to take? Now is the time for you to stand up once again to ensure this money is used for its original designation, an Off-Road Ride Facility for the Collier County Residents. If the money is not spent on an off-road facility VERY SOON, the off-road riders may never see any of the money! That’s right; the residents CAN LOSE the money granted to them for an off-road park and that money will be used at the County’s discretion.
Please help us spread the word, PLEASE SHARE OUR PAGE, Please have your friends share the page as well, even if they do not ride they can still help bring awareness to the Fund that is about to be lost!

I have a current and valid lease
on a property that was identified as the #1
site to do an ATV park (Opa-locka west) 320 acreas in The counties feasibility study done by Miami dade county parks and rec dept. $3million will build alotta trails (My plan would be about 1/2 a million for the fees and permitting but would be awesome considering the current options). I am meeting with parks and rec, the deputy major, on Dec 11 5th floor parks dept between 3-4 pm to discuss the plan. this place would serve as a regional facility and has all the necessary components needed to achieve its developement. and it TAKES ALOT!!
so who will support this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! contact me to help out and get involved!!!!
think about the concept !! "Develope an atv park, and save an area from developement!!!" it would look just like a mini CROOM!!! Located on HWY US 27 & Krome AVE

Thunderdually, thanks for posting this up! We are one of the facilities pursuing the money to provide an ATV park for the Collier County Residents. Currently the committee has received approval to go outside of the county to look for land as they have found that three million does not get you a lot. If they partner with a facility that is already set up based on their needs the money will go a lot further for them.
Studies they did determined that three million dollars barely purchased land much less fees associated with making the park.

the site in Miami-Dade county (Opa-locka west) is already owned by the county and does not need to be purchased!!! permitting is required!! and is required anywhere on any piece of land!! Miami-dade county has more registered off-road vehicles than any other county in the entire state of Florida. South Florida has been identified by the states off highway vehicle committee as the area with the highest critical need for an off-road vehicle park.

Zman, this post is about Collier County, not South East Florida. They are not going to partner with a county nearly 2 hours away

And, patrons of FT&L will demonstrate greater appreciation, respect and responsibility for that environment than we'd observe in the cesspool of southeast FL!

ATVers in southeast Fl will appreciate, respect and support an atv park even less than they've done at Holeylands, other public parks, private stadiums and sports teams. They're only interested when one of those teams or venues is popular, like the Heat. Those federal dollars you mentioned have been used to IMPROVE trail riding @ ONF. But, a mutant group of ATVers believe ONF is worse for it only because they're careless, reckless and irresponsible behavior can now be restricted and/or punished by fines.

Jose Camps you are such a moron I logged out of the other account to post this while at dinner.... you have no friggen clue what the partnership is between the county and 4 possible facilities. Talk about hearing opening soon.... you've talked about a so called park from you as long as I can remember and you WILL NEVER HAVE ONE! As for FTT and hearing about them opening you might not ever have to worry about them as you are probably not welcomed there!

Zman why does Government money to a private enterprise surprise you. That corruption is occurring on a massive scale, just take NFL stadiums for example.

Let's get the post back on topic
This committee has been appointed to find land to purchase, lease or "PARTNER" with a private land owner.

the original South florida site was at the Dade-Collier transition airport (40 miles west of krome ave along tamiami trail) that plan was scrapped by numerous agencies. it was initially a partnership between dade and collier county since they share the big cypress site. if the $ is given to FT&T then it should be done with transparency and in a way that the ATV users will benefit (reduced riding fees, etc.) after all this is $ that was originally part of a settlement out of court awarded to the county that got shafted by south florida water management. and ultimately the off roaders were the ones that got the short end of the stick. the money should in NO WAY go to anything other than OHV related use if given to FT&T.

There is a thing called the Sunshine Law.... you should look into it
The money will be used ONLY FOR Collier County Residents to provide them a safe environment to ride. There are 4 (NOT 1) facilities that are possible partners for COllier County. All 4 Facilities have a RFP to show how the money will be best used FOR THE COLLIER COUNTY Residents.
