I just saw where Polk County has awarded the design of an OHV park to Atkins North America.  Atkins will develope the plans and construction documents with an anticipated construction start in April of 2013 to be ready for opening in September 2014.  Anticipated capacity of the park is 700 vehicles per week.  State of Florida provided $1.35 million in funds, matched by $337,000.00 by Polk County.

I guess it's ok for the county to open a park but God forbid a private land owner try to do it.

Gopher tortoises are big money for the enviro crowd.  I just paid $2,000.00 for a gopher tortoise survey on one of my jobsites, which was nothing more than a 'biologist' (read: goofy kid with a funny hat) walking around the work area looking for burrows and tortoises for about an hour.  Manatees make good money for that crowd, too.

Yep, steer clear of those vehicles with manatee license plates. Most don't know that license plate money pays for establishing MORE no wake zones, not less!

The park will be 11 miles south of Mulberry on a 216-acre site on County Road 630.     http://www.theledger.com/article/20120515/POLITICS/120519609

that is not a lot of land. must limit to 100 per day riders since it said 700 per week. If they put 700 people in 216 acres there is bound to be wrecks.
