SAFE affordable ATV for my son?

Hi, I've been all over the internet trying to find reviews for a lower priced ATV for my son and I'm not having a lot of luck, so I hope you can help me.
Since he's going to outgrow it eventually, I don't want to spend a ton of money on a new ATV, but I'm also nervous about buying a used one because I don't want to adopt someone else's problems.
Can anyone tell me if this is a safe machine and a decent price?

if you are looking for a 90 cc or larger, I would highly recommend a honda, suzuki or kawasaki...no name brands do not go through the mud holes , their parts are harder to find than name brands and they constantly shut down after getting wet...my 8 yr old rides a 90 cc honda and it never lets him (or us) down..starts right up, goes through the mud and water with no problems...try craigslist...to give you an idea on price, we paid around $500.00 for his...good luck!

I bought our son who is 6 a Honda 90 on craigslist. Do yourself a favor and buy a named brand such as Honda. The aftermarket stuff is junk. The honda that we purchased 4 months ago was a 2009. I paid 1800.00 for it. Also, you can reduce the throttle on the machine to let your son grow into it. That is what we are doing.
Again, I would recommend that you buy a Honda. We ride alot out at RR and there is alot of water. That 90 runs and runs. Great machine for the money. I have had family members that have owned a ton of machines and we all agree that you cannot beat the 90 honda!!

hondas do last forever, but drum brakes suck and fail quickly if you ride in mud or water not to mention their suspension leaves a lot to be desired. Most kids quads are resold in good shape for a fraction of the cost because they grow out of them so quickly.
Look at Can Am, Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, Arctic Cat, and if you want race type atv's look at Apex, DRR & Pitster Pro. The last 3 are the BEST bang for the buck and they are the widest in the offerings with the best suspension and disc brakes which means they are the safest.

Kymco Mongoose, I have an 2004 50 cc and its been run hard by my kids, friends kids and so on and it still runs flawless. My friend now has it to let his son ride and learn on. In a few months I will get it back so my youngest will start to learn on it. NO problems getting parts at Kymco dealer or on line when I needed them but needing parts was rare. Air filter changes and maintenance are a must with any unit and thats about all I needed to do. Kymco makes some of the name brands for the big names to there specs and they put the big names on the unit and sell it as one or there own. The Kymcos also have a twin arm arm front and swing arm rear which make it a stable patform.
They make a 90 cc four stroke for about 1800-2000 grand out the door with a one year warranty.
Good luck.

I agree with greenmachine. But, if child is 10 or older, I recommend a used Honda or Yamaha 250 utility vs. sport bike.
