We are hosting our first harescramble this weekend, we plan on the track being around 10 miles long.  We have not decided as of yet how many laps we will be doing.  This will be for money not trophies.  The fees are: $5 registration and $10 to the pot (of course you still need to pay park admission).  We will be paying out the top 5 places.  For the first race we plan on having a dirt bike class (just 1) a quad class (just one unless we have too many entries then we will form more) and a side by side class (once again just 1).  We will be utilizing some of the new FTR trails as well as some other trails.  We hope to see you all out there this weekend.

The race is on Saturday and the dirt bikes will kick it off at 10am followed by the quads then the side by sides.  Registration starts this Friday during our regular hours then again on Saturday @ 8am until race time.

Let us know if you have any questions.....

Are you going to do laps or time? In other words 4 laps, 2 hrs.,6 laps 3 hrs?  How many miles per lap?  Scoring can get complicated if you have a big turnout. It is usually done electronically with transponders or bar codes and scanners.

Matt, for the first one it will be based on just laps.  Once the course is finalized and the actual distance is known the number of laps will be established.  Scoring is going to be done just based on laps at this time due to the lack of the scoring equipment.

There will be a check point area that every racer has to go through to be scored....most likely this will be next to the camphouse in the rear

It sounds like fun. I had other plans for this weekend, I'll see if I can change them.  I really didn't see this coming, less than a weeks notice for a race.
I think it is a great idea and I have a few other suggestions for Colon of some events that no one else is doing
2009 Endurocross Round 1 - Las Vegas

These are bikes but a course like this would not take up a lot of space and would be very spectator friendly and exciting.

For the race this weekend I really think you need at least 3 classes- sport, utility, youth.

Chillin, go to www.dirtyfootmudranch.com to see the event calendar.  They usually have at least 3 months of events posted in advance.  I believe the next race is scheduled for Feb 12th

These races are a great opportunity for those that want to try out XC racing. To do your first FTR XC race it would cost you $170 for transponder, FTR membership, AMA membership, and entry fee.  This race is $15 and they are paying back.

I would like to warn you though, you WILL become addicted to it. In my opinion, it is the type of racing that ATVs were meant to do. It separates the men from the boys, any sissy can go down a drag strip Wink.
I cant make this one but hope to make the next Thumbs Up.

We ran a hot lap on the 11 mile trail today and it took 25 minutes for 1 lap! Long story short if we want to finish before dark we have to cut the number of laps. This is what we are going to do. Dirt bikes 4 laps, Quads 4 laps, side by sides 4 laps and utility 4 wheelers 3 laps. I hope everyone tries to get there early on Saturday morning the practice lap will be really important.
