Due to a complete lack of use, I have decided to re apply for my agricultural exemption for my property taxes. This means closing down the trails and swamps to the general public.

I am going to exempt the area to the north (the pond, old peewee track, the new track, and the big mx track) and keep the commercial use on that area, but close down the rest.

Obviously people who have an existing membership can still ride on the whole property. I am not sure if I am going to offer any more memberships or not. I will think about it after I have concluded my application with the property appraisers office.

The track will be open for practice on the first weekend of every month for as long as people come to ride, the mx series will still be on.

When will this take effect Paul?   I was considering that trip in Jan and need to know if I need to redirect some place else.

It's in effect now, but your Jan trip will be fine.

If he is going after the exemption than its most likley permanant. Hate to see it I'm not a mx guy so although I dont get up there as much as I would like I hate to see it go. I understand why Paul is doing it though. You can only loose money for so long.

This is not good as the plex has something for everybody. The trails cannot be beat and camping onsite made it  perfect. keep us updated of any special options that may be available.

Let us know about re newing the memberships....I was definately looking forward to re newing mine; Mark was as well. We have even spoke to some of our friends that we ride with and they were interested in getting a years membership too. Let us know as soon as you decide what types of memberships will be available if any?

I am going to pm answers to the specific questions on here, but just to clarify things a little, the parts of the motoplex that are really used are still very much open.

The track holds an open practice every first weekend of the month. The race series is also going ahead as planned.

There are a few rumors going around, I can squash them down...nobody was hurt on the trails and the county did not shut us down. The truth is very few people wanted to ride the trails, why I don't know, but it is what it is. We have awesome dry trails and a few tracks and I am not sure why we didn't have more come out, but the lack of people using the wet stuff is what we found totally unbelievable. After the storms last feb, we had about 150 acres of rack deep swamp trails, ponds, creeks and some man made stuff, I offered a pass where you could ride all that, plus the dry trails, plus camp for free, plus take a hot shower at the end of the day, plus wash your bike down at the wash rack etc., for a paltry $4's a month and had less than 10 mud guys ever sign up for it. LOL.

Obviously if nobody wants to ride there, I am not going to force anyone, better to just close the side of the park that gets no use down.

Truthfully, it's not just the financial aspect that has led to this, if it had been fun, we could have not worried so much about the money and just concentrated on giving people a nice place to come out and ride, but after nearly 4 years of constantly begging people (with no luck) to follow a few simple rules, watching the same people ripping up the parking areas with wheelies and donuts, tear around with no helmets on, leaving mounds of rotten trash that they expect us to clear up....it long ceased being any fun.

We still own the land, we still have the trails, we will still be loyal to those that were loyal to us, trail pass members are still good to go. If someone has an idea and wants to try something themselves, don't be shy...send me a pm, we would look at any kind of offer.  Grin

Paul if you were only closer its over 4 hours for me oneway and up and back and its two tanks of gas, at total of 50 gallons.   Every time I pass a gas pump the price goes up.  I ride Croom two to three times a month because its on 45 minutes away and the cost of fuel to feed the truck is withing my budgit.

I understand why you have to do whats best or you.

Oh and I agree with Zman a few turds always ruin it or the rest. Cry

Good luck Paul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   I wish you well.

Hate to hear that.. My family and I have been going to the plex before it even opened.... I totally understand. In fact... John and I were looking through some OLD pics last night and seen some pics ( most of the pics) from the plex and the place was packed. $$ and 4 hrs away is hard, and of course we ALL wish we had somewhere like the plex closer... Alot of memories and friends made at the plex.... Would hate to have to go back to the quad side and sell the rhino  Cry
