This is one of the outfitters for rafting. the closest is the New River in Jefferson about a 45 min. drive. There is also Cherokee Adventures out of Erwin, Tn.

http://www.appalachianadventures.com/

If folks are into sightseeing there are numerous other things nearby, Historic Abingdon, Va. is only a 45 min ride. to the west, Home of the Martha Washington Inn. and the Barter Theatre, and it has many of the original homes and buildings from the 1700-1800's

About 30 mins., away is Damascus,Va. site of the Virginis Creeper Trail. This is an old narrow guage railroad bed that runs from Abington to almost the top of white top mountain, (over 5000 Ft.) It is open to bicycles and horses...Sorry no atv's..you can rent a mountain bike from one of the dealers in town and they also have transportation for you to the top of the trail. 22mile ride back..mostly downgrade....very beautiful ride...through forst and over some of the railroad bridges...Ya it sounds rough but if my old fat butt can do it..3 times so far  you'all can.

Boone, N.C., (tourist town)  is only about a 30 min. ride to the east lots to do there. Grandfather Mountain which can be found on the internet. Lots of shopping etc....Yes I said shopping for the ladies beleive me I have had to take my wife around to the shops.

For those of you interested in Blue Grass and country music there are several places to enjoy it for low cost on Friday and Saturday nights.
Also note for those that like to partake in the evening..this is a dry county, you can get some beer in the county but that is it. you have to go to Abingdon, Va.

There is alot to see and do a short driving distance away. If anyone has has further questions please let me know.

Thanks for getting those on for me Mike.  The only thing I can add is, those are the ATV Campgrounds cabin and trailers available for rent, not our place.

This sure sounds like something I'd like to take lil Moose on. Put two maybe three down for this one. Then we could head west and ride with family in AR and OK, sounds like a plan to me.

I'd like to go with the family (4 of us), if we can fit it in and it's o.k. with the rest of you.
