Yep I got rid of the Tahoe and went back to a truck. I've definitely missed being able to throw stuff in the bed of a truck. Only now I've got these dang payments  Barf!
But I'm sure I'll get plenty of good use out of the new 2010 Chevy Z71 Silverado 4x4 crew cab   Cool

Actually I looked at a Ford. One of my neighbors is related to the Jarret family - as in Jarret Ford which has many delaerships. But to get the bench seat I had to go down to the  XLT (think that's the model) and for the price the Chevy offered so much more. And I've had good luck with Chevy and I'm happy to have another. Besides I wanted a vehicle that wouldn't break down and have parts falling off in 1,000 miles  Shocked

If I was looking for a new pick-up, I would definitely have to take a hard look at the Raptor.  Nobody but Ford makes a truck like that:  6.2 liter, 400 hp, long travel suspension and crazy cool looks.  If you haven't seen one, you should look it up.

a guy down the street has one. Definitely a cool truck. I even looked at the Dodge with a Hemi. Still liked the Chevy better. I didn't go with the 6.2 to get that 400 hp. got the 5.3. 70 hp less, but better MPG. and to get the 6.2 you usually have to go to the 2500. This one will pull a ton more than my Tahoe did so it will definitely do all I want.

Buy,

I definitely like your taste in trucks.  In my opinion, you can't beat that Vortec engine that Chevy makes.  My silverado has 187,000 miles on it and the only thing that I have replaced on it was a fuel pump about 4 months ago.  I also have the 5.3 V8 and it pulls my bass boat like it was a toy.  Post some pics of the new truck.

I had an 01 Chevy 5.3L I loved that motor, then traded it in on an 04 Chevy 6.0L... WHAT A DOG!! The 5.3 is WAY better IMO.  You wont be disappointed.  Well I dont really know about the 6.2 mine is a 6.0

Eh, I loved my 6.0, you just gotta ditch the torque management and wake it up with a tune. The lq4 is beastly man.

The engine upgrade offered with the new Silverado is the 6.2 with 403 HP and 417 lb ft of torque. It's not common in the 1500 and is a $2,000 upgrade.  I was just teased by that 400 HP as opposed to the 315 of the 5.3. but mine will definitely be better on gas. and it did come with the heavy duty cooling package for engine oil and trans and an upgraded radiator which is a good thing.

Your probley right now, when I bought it there was hardly anything out for that motor.  Back then I put K&N's cold air intake, Gibson exhaust, and a programer.  It hardly seemed to make a difference.  My biggest gain in gas milage was going to sythetic motor oil, which was weird.  Other than that its just stock.

I had a Magnaflow exhaust, K&N intake system and a programmer on the Tahoe. Good thing is that the programmer is the same for the new truck so I kept it. But they haven't released the 2010 tune for it yet  Cry

I don't know if Chevy has a misprint on their site or not. On some trucks they list the 6.0 but on some they list a 6.2

sweet truck, lets see some pics. id stay away from a lift kit and bigger tires. 33s and adjust the torsion bars just a bit and it will look good. you dont want to mess with anything bigger then 33s or youl end up with bad gas mileage, wrong gear ratio, and you will start to notice how week half ton running gear can become.

6.0 is the standard in 2500s and the bigger option for half tons. the 6.2s are kind of a specialty, im prety sure you can only get it with the vortec max option or denalis, escalades, ect. i know when the 6.2 was introduced you could only find it in gmc denalis, they didnt offer it in chevys at all, i was hoping they were saving it for a new silverado ss, but i guess not...

I didn't see any on the lot, but if you go to Chevy's site you can build a Silverado with the option of the 6.2. pricey though at $2k unless you are really in need of serious HP.

Will post up pics next week. Right now it's stock. Next week it will have nerfs and a couple of other little things. Intake and exhaust are in the future as well.
