Question about youth ATVs

I was wondering how small of a gas powered youth ATV they make?  I am not wanting it to go fast at all, in fact the battery ones go plenty of fast enough for him right now.  Thats as fast as I would want it to go.  I just can't stand how cheap the battery ones are made they only seem to last a few months.  It would be nice to buy one that would be able to grow with him.  I cant stand plastic tires, worn out batteries, one wheel peels, ect, ect.  Anyway what would you guys suggest.  He is only 2.5 so it has to be small and slow, and nothing racing.

Most small ATV's have throttle limiting screws to keep them at a reasonable pace. I don't know what the exact speed is, but I know some of the plastic ones do 5 MPH. You might be able to hit that , but I doubt it'll choke down to 2.5. You have to keep it revving enough to engage the clutch. Even if there is no limiter screw you can cut a small piece of PVC and put it in the carb to keep the slide from going all the way up to reduce top speed (like with the PW 50 dirtbikes).  My son had a Kawi 50 ATV that wasn't that fast with the limiter in. I'm sure someone here has one you can put him on to test it out. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply!!  It does help.  I know he will be happy with whatever I get him I just want it to grow with him.  So I dont have to keep buying more and more LOL yea right

All the little one have throttle stops/screws. These are some of the ones I have tinkered with.
Suzuki  50cc quads (2 strokes up to 2006) can be cut down to about 4-5 MPH, do about 10 mph stock, can do 13 mph with exhaust restriction removed.
The newer 4 stroke 3 MPH, up to about 15 MPH with the CVT spacer removed.
The Polaris/Etons and similar 2 stroke 50cc quads are about the same.
Unless they are tiny they will need 90cc by 6.
