       The rain weather once again is not looking favorable for this Saturdays race. We are watching the weather reports and will be in close contact with the track owner starting tomorrow. Please watch your e mail closely and message boards if you visit them. In addition, you may call any of the three members of the SDTA to confirm.

     Once again I regret to inform you that today’s race at Cross Roads Motorplex in Jasper, Fl is postponed until next Saturday due to rain. It is currently raining hard at the facility and even if it quit now, it would be late into the night with only the outside half of the track (if dried enough) would be available as a racing surface. Race has been rescheduled for Saturday, February 6th. Same times will apply and a subsequent e mail will go out during the week.

      We are still praying that the rain will be light and not ruin our race day. ……Marti & Jay….please put in an extra word for us for minimal rain. The weather forecast has improved and gets much better after 9 am in the morning. It will all depend on how much rain the track gets during the early am hours. As of this email. There has been no rain at the track. Lets all hope it by passes Cross Roads Motorplex. Shawn, Ray & myself will be up early checking with the track owner for a morning update. Please pay close attention to your e mails and message boards. Feel free to call any of us listed below…… If the rain is light…..it will make for an awesome evening of racing.

    I guess the radar forecast I'm looking at is all wrong. I thought Jasper was a real racing facility that could handle a little rain. Guess not.
    Well, my RV is all packed so I guess I'm taking to family camping now. No sense in wasting all that effort. Good luck next week, I'm not changing anymore plans so I will not make it on the 6th. So that will be three less quads, not like that many show up anyways.

Sorry you did not get the word or make the call prior to making the drive, as promoters of the races we have to make decisions based on weather and communication with the track owner, we waited until 8:00 this A.M. to make the decision and Ward posted it on this same thread at 8:31. It is also listed on the flyers to call before you haul and there is 3 different phone #'s on there. The track owner and I had to make a decision early this A.M. because just like your self there are other people that have to drive long distances to get to Jasper. Flat Track racing is very sensitive to rain and most tracks can not tolerate very much rainfall and still be raced on in the same day. Is this your first time racing?

Again I apologize you did not get the word, are you on the email list for info? If not please send your email address so we can add you to avoid this from happening again.

Jasper could of took that .  Call before you haul is great advice, but some people have to leave earlier than others. Just saying.  I felt like it could have been a great night of racing, but that is all hearsay now! Oh well, there is always another weekend for dissipointment. You all can call me MR. It is becoming quite apparent that you quad guys are completely clueless about racing Flat Track. The actual recorded rainfall for the last 24hrs from Weather.com shows .65 inches, I will convert that for you so it is easier to understand .65 is the same as .15 more than 1/2" which happens to be double the amount of 1/4" as you have advised. We called this race at 8:31 this morning and unless you live 6.5hrs away since the gates did not open until 3:00 then no one should of left there home without checking the forum or calling one of the 3 phone numbers listed on every flyer for every race.

You may have "felt" like it could of been a great night of racing but you did not have the discussion with the track owner at 8:00A.M. today when he advised that the track was still not fully recovered from the rains that happened last wkend and earlier this wk. The SDTA DOES NOT OWN THE RACETRACK, we are at the direction and advise of the track owners as to if and when the races will happen.

The comments you have posted today are uncalled for and quite immature to say the least which is the opposite of most of your post from earlier this wk when I thought you were helping the SDTA by encouraging other quad riders to show up. Are you with us or against us?

I think everyone is getting impatient with Mother nature's lack of cooperation. It was beautiful ALL week for WORK..... .   I am ready to get out there and blow off the rust, but here's hoping to a nice clear and if we are lucky relatively warm next saturday for some fun racing  .

Derek's crank and Dave (Ware)'s engine parts are still not back from the crank shop, so hopefully that will be soon that they are back out on the track too...

Hey Shawn, no need to explain. The complainers are either new to racing on clay (it is not dirt) or they just want to complain. When we were racing we understood that it was crazy to think that just because we went to the track that no matter what we were going to race! We went to Eastbay,Jasper,Valdosta, and Thunder Bowl and knew that it all depended on the weather. Good luck to you all.  Randy

    Wow, you can do math. I understand all of what you said. And I do want to help the sport. I got to much time and money wrapped up in my quads to not continue with it. And as far as the 6.5 hour drive, it is less then 4 hours for me. I had plans of leaving my house by 9am so I could set up my RV to spend the night. Like I told you earlier, I wanted to talk to you about what you needed for your track dragger. I was packed and ready to go, waiting for Ward's email. I was not getting on the road until I knew for sure we were racing.
    
    As far as my post today, it got my point across. Its good how you protect the SDTA, but wow! it is so easy to get you fired up.  I mean no harm to the sport, I just like stirring the pot a little bit. It gets people motivated. And yes, it may be immature but that's just me I have been called worst.  Key board racing, got to love it

   By the way, I have a couple 55gal drums if they would work better and one piece of rebarb about about 15ft. let me know.

Shawn, I believe you should take care who you lump in to a group of who you call clueless! thats completely uncalled for.
I don't 100% agree with the grumbling,but do understand the frustration!
I didn't call Wade to check out how much rain they actually received,but I hope the call to postpone was warranted !!
Everyone need to get over all the pissing and moaning,and just get set for the next race,WHENEVER it is !!
