I've seen 13 year olds racin' 450's at DCMX.
T.C. was 15 when he got on one and started racin' there half way through his first season of racing.
During the first year of the series you had to be a "B" class or better rider. I think if you got the balls to run it and don't ride like a goon Randy will let you sign up.
T.C. had run only 3 or 4 "B" class races and was fresh off of his "C" season and recovering from 2 back to back injuries when he signed up. Mom and I were nervous as all get out. Although it was his choice....we don't regret it.
I've see Brandon ride. I would have no complaints if he entered. I guarantee you by the end of the season that kid will be one heck of a rider if he did.
I agree with you completely. He wants to race Sponsor Cup and we and his father have weighed the options.
As his Sponsor, we want to see him develop and do well. But we also want to make sure he does in properly.
He is right on the edge mentally and maturely of doing this class. I do not think that he can compete at a high level
quite yet but I do know that this kid is definetely one that will be able to quickly!!!
Its a toss up.
I wish I had my experience with his stamina and balllllzz!
TC has come a very long way and is probably one of the most improved riders this past year along with Schupp, Brandon, and Brewer.
I give him huge props every chance I can. (even though I have to sneek over to the Maloney camp to do it)
But I think the main reason that TC is where he is at is because he stepped up and raced with guys a lot faster than he was.
Maybe its time for Brandon to do the same. I just know that when he is out practicing with some of us more "experienced" riders,
he does not know quite yet how to "Battle" and "Push" like the top guys. Sponsor Cup would teach him that.
Wow! That was long winded.
