It has nothing to do with the location. FBI does a background check for the state. Only thing that can make it quicker is getting your fingerprints done electronically versus on paper. Wait time is usually only 4-6 weeks electronically versus 3-6 months with paper prints.

Yes it does, it is just as matt said.

I did mine the old fashion way in January, took 7 months to get mine.  Matt got his in 7 days...

All you do is take an approved CCW course, go to the office, they take your fingerprints, picture, everything all in one place for 117 dollars.

I had to pay 117+20 for fingerprints+20 for picture, and I had to drive pretty much all around the county.

TRUST me, do it the new way.  This is something new, hasn't been around long to my knowledge.  It wasn't around when i got my license...

just because u have it dont mean u gotta use it       better to carry for 40 years and not ever need it than be cought by one of these gang bangers doing robbery that happens many times a day down here and be knocked off

imo its better be over catious than not prepard   u dont want it to be cut short because someone wants ur car, or the few hundred bucks they might get away with from a store

Where is the Miami office located?  My wife is getting her CCW and this sounds like the way to go.  She'll be wanting to carry the new .380 I got her for Christmas.

Does anyone know if the Glades range has reopened?  Last I heard they were going to reopen in Dec.

Its definitely better to have a gun and not need it than to need a gun and not have one.  There are bad people everywhere and there are  not enough police officers to guarantee your your protection.

Plus, target shooting is alot of fun....  Thumbs Up

Why carry a gun? Unless you don't read the newspapers, watch news reports or listen to the radio, an explanation shouldn't be required.

I carry and I have for some time. I hope I never have to use it. However, I like knowing I've got the option should it come to it.

And you don't have to be in any "bad area" to become a victim. Criminals could care less where you're located and what the circumstances are when it comes to committing a crime.

The bar thing is very easy, it's the 51/49 rule, if the establishment makes 51 percent of their sales in liquor then you CAN NOT carry there, and most likely you will be able to smoke.

The main thing to go by, if you can smoke in there you can not carry.

I carry for many reasons, but most importantly is being prepared, there is a lot of evil in this world and I feel the need to be prepared for it.  I've had a few instances in my life that made me carry, and made me feel the way I do, everyone always has a 'turning point' so to speak.

I hope to god that I never ever have to use my weapon.  But the reality is that I may...and I train accordingly.

I try to avoid places I can not carry...and even in that case, better to be judged by 12....

It's not about anything but being prepared.  Guns are a tool, and should be trained well and carried accordingly, it requires a great deal of responsibility and respect to carry evey day.

When you carry, you carry 24/7, here is a great link to my theory, I agree with Nuttnfancy 100 percent and this is something I found.

Civilian sheepdog! It's an obligation to carry. It is 24/7/365...when you decide to carry, you are obligated, you need to be trained, and level headed.  You either carry 24/7 or you don't carry at all.

I may be in the minority, but there's a reason why its called concealed carry! No is supposed to know you are carrying regardless of where you are. Take that for what its worth.

You just admitted you carry. You are as guilty as the rest of us!

To be honest there are very few people on this forum that I could pick out on the street if I saw them, and the few that I do know are great people and also carry...or are not against it.

It is concealed, meaning hidden from plain view.  It would be a great guess if someone just walked up to me and said, "I know you are carrying", but the truth is that people are too busy with their important lives to care.

It is very hard for me to even spot a person who carries unless it is blatantly obvious, which in that case let them be.

If you guys don't have it, read gunmatchers book.  It will answer any and all questions reguarding gun laws.  I need to pick up another copy, I lost mine, but I have read most of it.

I legally carry though with my CCW. Illegally where its not allowed. There's another book, which may be the same one you're talking about, that explains all the Florida laws in great detail. Especially the Castle Doctrine.

That is the Gunmatcher book IIRC, it goes into great detail about everything

Like I said, I avoid places I can not carry legally.  I know the laws and abide by them very clearly, I can not risk anything.
