I pressed in the bearing with seal and placed metal bearing bracket on, can't get axle back in all the way. It wont seat on new bearing. Am I missing something? can anybody help?

1. Are you sure you have the right bearing? Don't assume.....
2. Is to shaft clean/smooth.? The fit is very tight on axle bearing.
I often put shafts in the freezer for two hours.
Just before I get the axle out of the freezer I heat the inner bearning area with a heat gun for a minute or two.
Grab the shaft, put a very thin film of grease on the mating area and install it. I few taps with a rubber mallet will usually finish the job.
