HELP! Stop neighbors barking dog!

Can anyone give me some ideas on how to get my neighbors dog to stop barking incessantly? I live in a close neighborhood so the 12ga is not an option... I am quickly loosing my sanity.

get some sleeping pills and put them inside pieces of hot dogs... that should do it! ifthat doesnt work.. use the buns.. soak them in anti freeze....

Confront the owners of the dog and ask them if they cant shut him up... to keep him in the house. You could even call animal control. As far as I know, it is a law that an excessively barking dog can not stay out in a yard other then to do its business (Not sure if thats a state or county law). Calling animal control may not be a bad idea because then tehy would be the ones to warn your neighbors and make a log of the disturbance... and you would stay annonimous, hehe. If all else fails a BBgun shot to the azz always helps too. Otherwise, the anti-freeze and the sleeping pills would do it, lol.

I  feel  for  ya  brother !   I  had  the  same  problem.  BUT  I  found  the  answer !     Go  to  www.lentek.com  and  order  there  super  bark  free.  It  works  great  if  you  have  a  clear  shot  at  the  dog  with  no  trees  or  bushs  in  the  way.  Hope  this  helps !!  If  not  try  wares  idea.

I have talked to the owners first. Their response...Dogs bark. I may end up going to code enforcement, but you have to sign an affidavit in this county so there is no anonymity. There actually are three dogs that I am dealing with. The worst offender I can't get close to.

noise ordinance is a(i believe) a county level. what to do depends on how much you like your neighbor. anything from a friendly request to rat poison may do the trick. or dig a hole so he can get out and then call animal control.(just kidding on the rat poison)

When  I  get  a  clear  shot  with  nothing  in  the  way  it  works !  And  if  the  neighbors  are  azzholes , use  the  audible  tone !  It  will  drive  THEM  up  the  wall !

now i wouldnt really recommend a bb gun considering it will pierce the skin, but an airsoft gun works well. We just got a lil dog from one of my mom's customers, and he pees like crazy in the house. Everytime he does it we show him the pee and shoot him with the air soft gun. Its just a sting not as bad. And no we dont do it point blank.

Each time the dog barks, go out on the front porch in your skivies and yell 'Hhhhuuuuussssshhhhh!'. Keep doing this each time the dog barks. Make sure it is really loud. Your neighbors will start to think you are crazy and move.

There are no bad dogs, only bad owners.  If you've already talked to them without success it's time for stronger measures.  Their barking dogs are probably annoying more neighbors than just you.  Can you get several neighbors together and all call animal control?  There is strength in numbers.  

If it's a next door neighbor get an air horn from a boat store.  When the dog barks blow your horn    I would suggest starting with animal control first, group effort if possible.

Please don't hurt the dog.  It's not their fault their owner's are jerks.  Good Luck!

What I did was set my alarm for 3am and for a week straight I would get up, go knock on the neighbors door at 3 am and say, I forgot to tell you when you got home from work but your dog was barking till midnight last night. I did this for almost a week and now they leave the dog inside.

How about suggesting a anti-bark collar or debarking the dog. If they want a watch dog but want to get rid of the costant barking there are shock or citronella spray anti-bark collars. they range in price from 50-100 bucks. The citronella ones work really well without hurting the dog. the spray distracts them and supplies an aversive stimulus. Then they can remove the collar when it's not needed. the dog will still bark to warn of intruders while wearing it, but won't bark just to hear himself. Shock collars can be found at most major pet stores, the citronella ones are in some stores/catalogs, or you can call the company that makes them. Maybe you could give one as a gift and ask the neighbor to use it? It sucks that you would have to fund it, but if they'll use it, it might be worth the money to keep your sanity.

I picked up a copy of the county ordinace today and I they have changed it recently in my favor. I think I may take it over to the guys house as one last chance. He can see how easy it will be for me to get the county out there and how much it will cost. I just don't have much confidence in a person who's response is.. dogs bark...

Thanks Tim for letting me borrow the super bark. I have it out there now on the closest dog... We'll see.
