We had around 60 riders brave the cold (yes it was freezing) for our second Endurance race. The race was basically run as many laps of our xc course as you can, in 8 hours. One rider from each team, out on the course at any time.

We started the race, using our MX track as a way to separate the riders before they entered the woods.

Here are the overall winners:

Walsh Racecraft got the holeshot and never looked back. Their 3 man mixed team (2 dirtbikes and one quad) of Mike Walsh, Mike Bard & Jeff Walts turned in an impressive 14 laps with a blistering average lap time of  31.42 minutes.

Second place (first in their class) with an average 33.84 mins went to a team of GNCC riders, Team Old Man Racing..whose ages ranged from the forties to the oldest racer who is 62. Way to show the young guys how to ride.

Third place overall (second in their class) went to Team Tampa Bay Riding Dirty with an average lap time of 35 minutes.

Here are all the results:

Overall        Class         Team Name                                 Class                   Avg Lap

1                1              Team Walsh Racecraft                   Combo                31.42
2                1              Old Man Racing                             Int Quad             33.84
3                2              Tampa Bay Riding Dirty                   Int Quad             35.01
4                1              Iron Mountain                               Open Quad          35.86
5                3              Old Farts                                     Int Quad             35.91
6                2               Tragedy                                     Open quad           37.52
7                4              Ramrod                                       Int Quad             38.58
8                1              SRS Concept                               Open Dirt Bike       39.18
9                1              All American                                Fun Class             41.45
10              2              Out Of pocket                              Fun Class             41.50
11              3               Sausage                                     Fun Class            43.74
12              2               Keep it Green                              Combo                 43.85
13              4               Dath                                          Fun Class             50.49
14              3               Gator                                         Combo                 45.16

Peewee winner was Team Double Trouble.

If anyone wants their own lap times, please post here, or pm me.

Thanks to the SSQSA scoring Team.

See ya all January 30th  Grin

yeah...but we busted our azz to stay in second place, and i was going to bust out my 28.50 sec lap for my last ditch effort to make a run at the top spot  Wink
talked to my motor guy tonight and should have another motor ready for me in a couple of weeks which will basically be a stocker, with some head and time work, he said it should gain about 3-4 hp, then we will work on the 450 kit with more head work

Hey John, I pm'd ALL the lap times for all the TBRD guys to Andy. Not sure which order you ran. You can either get it from him, or let me know which position you raced in and I will gladly get the results to you.  Wink

LOL dude, you obviously don't know me  Grin Grin Grin Grin

It would not make me or the plex look bad if you guys beat Walsh, in fact I would have been happy, it would have given me some great ammunition to rib those guys...which I do relentlessly anyway.

The Motoplex could care less who won, we just want the fastest team credited as the winner, second fastest as second place, and so on.

Fact of the matter was there was some kind of scanner malfunction and one of the Walsh guys laps did not get recorded.

Believe this....I do not stand for cheating......and I will happily call out anyone caught cheating.

I have e-mailed the scorers and asked for the lap times for everyone so I can post them.

Hey oldest, Im the guy who was attempting to beat yalls smokin fast lap times. The borrower of your air pump. Ok, the young, good looking, blond bald head dude Wink Your team was a definate insperation to me, I pushed myself and machine almost to the limits and for that i am grateful. I do hope to see yall at the 6hr race in january. Do us a favor and and only bring quads with 3 wheels so we have a chance Cheesy
As for the mix up in scoring, I know the owner pretty well and to my knowledge he would not do this on purpose or for anyones benefit. It was a simple mistake and we still got schooled by you OLD DUDES Wink

yes we were in the endclosed trailer and yes 40 to63 my day is nov 2 1946 turning 37 to38 min laps on stock 450R we will run our gncc machines in jan race this will make it a little more instering dont you think so shawn it was a pleasure talking to you and some others  we do this sport for fun and to stay in shape we dont think of ourselfs as fast just having fun competing against each other i can get perty fast when i decide to turn it on but dont wat to get hurt in a race that i use for practice the other old guys can turn it up too your club has some good and fast riders too but  the main thing the young ones have is youth   we just ride smarter shawn you are fast but you need to learn to ride smarter push more in the tight stuff rest in open areas your machine will last a longer and you will too  the old were talking why not have a 6 hour every month with 2 or 3 or 4 on each team let the riders choose but put each in a sep class some riders need more rest time than others  ////////////////////////now to answer the big  ?  i was told by the score persons 2 and the lady at the computer that 6;15 would be the cut off time i asked this to see if i wanted to make another lap or let my son so due to the time factor i let my son run my last lap that way he put in 5 laps i was standing at score tent at 6;15 with cell phone in hand looking at the time to see if my son was going to make it 6 at 6,17 arider came in and the computer lady which at that time had walked over to score tent  and the scorer let that person go?Huh?? isnt  nothing against paul or his track just that cutoff time is cutoff time for everone< thanks for the place to meet new people and have fun see u in jan.

The finish time for Team Old Man Racing on the sheet I have says you guys finished at 6:46:36.

There was a bit of confusion on the 6:15 white flag thing, I think that was mainly caused by me.  Shocked

As it is explained to me now, if the white flag is up, you can have one more lap...checkered flag is no more laps. Sounds simple now, but at the time it didn't make as much sense.  Grin

They put out the white at 6:15, then the checkered at 6:45.

Team Old Man could not have gone out for another lap.

Most of the teams came in after 6:45, but we checked this too after the race and none of it made any difference to any places, either by class or overall.

Biggest problems we have to fix are a) a better understanding of the finish, which will be better explained at the drivers meeting (hopefully I understand it better myself now) & b) I am going to take the scorer away from everyone at the end of the race and let her tally the scores without the pressure of a ton of guys saying what's my time, who did the fastest lap...etc., etc.. All understandable questions, but I am going to make everyone wait until the trophy ceremony next time.  Tongue

Hey Paul, 1 way to solve it is to let them go, no matter what time it is, at 7:00 (or whatever time the race ends) if your not in, your lap is not registered. simple!

Hey oldest you aint the crew from Pensacola that I met  way back at one of the Motoplex feature weekends are ya? If so, Shawn you guys had some tough competition! I rode with these guys and they are good,,,,,, uh well at least "smart" like he said. I can't agree more that all out speed aint always the best in XC, it usually comes down to who rides consistent lap times at a good even hard pace. That theory has worked for me and all I ride is a stock powered 400 EX with minor suspension tweaks and I predominately race against 450's!
