I need help if anyone can tell me how to go about registering a vessal that has absolutly no vin numbers. This vessel was found by my brothers boss floating outside their house in the keys, they towed it in and brought it to their yard , they own the repo company my brother works at. It has been sitting for little over a year she told my brother he can have it but he has to get it registered somehow. The boat has NO vins nowhere. A vessal usually has 3 vins but in the places they are usually placed ther is nothing. So I cant put a lien on it. And the company that made it no longer is open. It is an 03-05 scorpion 26'. Does anyone know how else I can go about it. her are some pics. we have raise all the lids and looked in all the holes and there is nothing. Just hate to see it destroyed.

I don't know.  Tell you the truth, it looks like what I call a 'big eyes' project.  What I mean by that is someone looks at a pile of whatever and somehow sees a treasure.  Before I spent too much effort, I would start seriously adding up the expense of making that meet the picture in my mind.  Wiring harnesses, motors, most likely a bracket, center console, t-top, outriggers, rocket launcher, rod holders, helm, gauges, controls, electronics.  Dude, in my opionion, you could have a seriously nice boat that already has all of that without the material expense and sweat equity that would go with that 'free' hull.  After you do a quick accounting, check out this website.

tell you the truth all the $$ is in the parts I done it twice already I got a boat rewired the hole thing with new pumps gauges rocker switches Ive ran new wirings, pulled off motors and reinstalled My down fall is in the welding ttop leaning post the bracket I have motors this is not new and quick I say about 1 yr not in a hurry. Auction boats or anything like that I finance or buy I need more money than I would like to go now. This is a slow process. Good thing about it it is all foam core no wood to worry about sitting and rotting.
This was my boat I redid the whole thing after it was crashed from behind I pulled it all apart painted it added the bracket and rewired all of it with touch toggles, I can do most of the work and have freinds for the rest. My buddy owns Competition boats so I can get help just need numbers for it. www.competitionboats.com

Looks nice!  I put the same bracket on my boat, which is an old Mako 261, after I wore out the Mercury Offshores and installed a pair of Optis.  The Optis were too heavy so we closed in the transom and added the bracket.  Actually made the boat run nicer through the chop.  I guess if you don't mind the time and have the resources, that would be a good way to go.  The only advice I can give is try to talk to the state and see what can be done.  You wouldn't be the first to have had to jump through these hoops.  Obviously, whoever abandoned the boat never wanted the owner to be found.  Was there any documentation done when the hull was salvaged or did your brother's boss take it without contacting FMP?  That could make a big difference.  My guess is the state has a process for claiming abandoned property through a waiting period which most likely begins once the state is notified.  Unfortunately, I think I remember that the process ends with an auction of the abandoned property, of which your brother would have to participate in.  Good luck on the project!
