RZR clutch cover question.

I started to notice a slight leak (about 2 drops over a week) so I investigated and found water in my tranny/transfer case.  Anyway got that all changed and checked my clutch and all my other fluids (everything else was good) so I was wondering what you guys suggest to put around the gasket that goes around the clutch cover.  Silicone, grease, ect.  I would think silicone would be a b*#ch to get off once I used it. 

Kind of embarrassed to post these pics, its not near as clean as most of yalls rides LOL so it starts

I have never had a problem. Try www.atvquadsquad.com under the Polaris section. Those guys know everything.

i dont have anything against polaris but their C.V.T absolutley sucks!!!!! that o-ring is an absolute joke in trying to seal out anything. id just put a nice bead of black rtv silicone around the cover. i would imagine the reason why you got water in the transmission is because you brought it in too deep and sucked it in through a vent line. granted you would need to put a new bead of silicone on the housing every time you need to pull the cover, but it beats chewing up all the pulleys,belt,rollers of the clutch.

I did run my vents up my cage (gas,frnt end,rear end,transmison,transfer case) I will probley end up using silicone just looking for options.

alright thats good that you rerouted the lines. i use the black rtv silicone from napa and its a good proudct(little expensive for what it is). you said that you didnt want trouble removing it, this stuff comes off easily. or you can go out and buy yamabond but that sh*t is a pain in the ass to remove but thats for sealing engine cases. also another oil that i reccomend using in your rzr is royal purple. good stuff if its going to be in the slop.

i just looked at the milkshake. WOW!!!  did you just drain the old oil out or did you flush it? you know like filling it up with new oil, running it,dropping it,refilling,running,draining etc etc.

Its flushed  nothing I havent done on other 4x4.  I have been running the "Polaris" oils (gear lube, motor oil, tranny fluid) I am impressed with it so far.  Hard to say on the motor oil though.

you cant just be changing that oil. you need to flush it, flush it with cheep oil as many times as it takes untill it starts coming out clean and then put some good oil back in it. just ride it for a second, bring it back and drain it and put more cheep oil in, ride it again, and repeat.

I think right now I have about 15 GAL of old gear (milk) oil sitting in the corner of my garage. I know it needs to be fushed, I do it all the time on my buggy.  I have already flushed it twice.

Ok I do have a question for yall.  Do you think it is better when the gear lube combines with the water instead of it staying separated.  I know part of the reason for the combining is pure friction at lord knows how many RPM's in the ring and pinion.  Or do you think it is better for it to stay separated?  Lets hear some opinions...

lol, what does it mater, it bad either way. theres a company that makes some "water proof oil" now... now we can just leave the water in our oil. its water proof right? lol

I did do little experiment with that very issue.  On a Dana 60 instead of venting it we put a slight (and I mean slight) amount of air pressure pumped in.  Theory was to have air slightly seeping out of the seals instead of water seeping in.  Well after a few tries LOL it didn't make a difference.

If you use the RTV, just use a very small amount and smear it with your fingers to be very thin. You don't want that hanging on the insides of your clutch where it could break off and possibly stick to something you don't want it to.
