Michael Richards better known as Kramer from TVs Seinfeld does make a good point.

This was his defense speech in court after making racial comments in his comedy act. He makes some very interesting points...


Someone finally said it.  How many are actually paying attention to this?  There are African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Arab Americans, etc.

And then there are just Americans.  You pass me on the street and sneer in my direction.  You call me 'White boy,' 'Cracker,' 'Honkey,' 'Whitey,' 'Caveman'... and that's OK.

But when I call you, Nigger, Kike, Towel head, Sand-nigger, Camel Jockey, Beaner, Gook, or Chink .. You call me a racist.

You say that whites commit a lot of violence against you... so why are the ghettos the most dangerous places to live?

You have the  United  Negro  College Fund. You have Martin Luther King Day.

You have Black History Month. You have Cesar Chavez Day.   

You have Yom Hashoah. You have Ma'uled Al-Nabi.

You have the NAACP.  You have BET... If we had WET (White Entertainment Television), we'd be racists.  If we had a White Pride Day, you would call us racists.

If we had White History Month, we'd be racists.

If we had any organization for only whites to 'advance' OUR lives, we'd be racists.

We have a Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a Black Chamber of Commerce, and then we just have the plain Chamber of Commerce.  Wonder who pays for that?

A white woman could not be in the Miss Black American pageant, but any color can be in the Miss America pageant.

If we had a college fund that only gave white students scholarships... You know we'd be racists.

There are over 60 openly proclaimed Black Colleges in the US.  Yet if there were 'White colleges', that would be a racist college.

In the Million Man March, you believed that you were marching for your race and rights.  If we marched for our race and rights, you would call us racists.

You are proud to be black, brown, yellow and orange, and you're not afraid to announce it.  But when we announce our white pride, you call us racists.

You can rob us, carjack us, and shoot at us. But, when a white police officer shoots a black gang member or beats up a black drug dealer running from the law and posing a threat to society, you call him a racist.

I am proud... But you call me a racist.

Why is it that only whites can be racists??

There is nothing improper about this. That's why we have LOST most of OUR RIGHTS in this country.  We won't stand up for ourselves!

Don't lock it. After 8 years of wars, terrorism, WMDs and now a deep recession, I'm just as cautious, apprehensive and pessimistic, as those folks posting here. They're all good men and have good reason to be concerned. They give a crap. There are people out there who are going to try to make it more difficult for whitey, blacky, etc.. But, don't let anyone tell you that you cannot be proud of your race, color, creed or sexual orientation. What are we going to fix by being paranoid, hateful and vindictive. Look at those folks in the Middle East, they've been in that mode for centuries and it's spilling-over on us.

I appreciate what you've stated. I'm guilty for judging Michael Richards' rant as irresponsible because he takes no responsibility for his actions and he feebily attempts to excuse his behavior by blaming others. But, the statements or judgments you're surprised by refer to the last 2 or 3 lines which appear to have been added to Richards' rant. Did he say that, too? And, after the recent elections, we should not be surprised by nor underestimate the number of people who are tired of hearing about racism, just because a few prefer to incite it.

The color of someone's skin does not qualify them to be in Special Olympics, ect.  You are comparing apples to oranges.  I think you implying that someone can "join" a Special Olympics or Disabled Americans club by choice is a slap to anyones face who is in it.

Really? Are you sure we haven't lost any rights? Well, how about, the right to:

Get a fair shot at government contracts without special consideration going to those bidding against us who are other than white?

Get admission into colleges without losing reserved spots for persons who are other than white in order to satisfy some affirmative action credo.

Get the same access to grants, tax breaks, loans, subsidies and considerations as those who are other than white receive on a daily basis?

You're wrong on this one. There's been no disparagement, slant or anything in this post. It was merely a great mirror of the way things are today. The most openly racist things you'll come across in today's society are against the white race. Everyone knows the original post is an accurate representation, including you Aint.

Thats why many (for the minority contracts) have put the business in thier wife's name.  I know its a little different than what we are talking about.

It just might support your allegations if facts from the GAO or other government agency could show us which companies received government contracts and how much they received during the past x amount of years. For example, who owns Brown and Root, Blackwater, TSA and other defense contractors, are black farmers getting more subsidies than whites, etc.? Who just got those bank and auto bailout's? And, who does the GAO say has gotten the most federal loans, etc.? It'd also be nice to see facts from the EEOC or other non-partisan organizations to support allegations that whites are being discriminated against by universities/colleges and the grade point average of those who failed to get admitted to those colleges. As far as expecting most people to support Michael Richards' remarks, don't kid yourself. Why can't a bank robber claim he has a right to rob banks just because others do it? Michael Richards is feebly attempting to justify his rage and anger by pointing out what others do. He's not being punished for his remarks, but, you can't expect most folks to buy tickets to listen to that crap, anymore. BTW, I've no illusions of persuading anyone to change their opinions. Most of you are grown men, highly educated and far from being stupid. It's just fun to challenge attempts to create derision, sometimes.

You want backup? Here's some of the legislation (at the federal level...states have even more) designed to favor minority business and minority contracts.

Executive Order 11485 (1969): Established by the U.S. Office of Minority Business Enterprise within the Department of Commerce, for the purpose of mobilizing federal resources to aid minorities in business.

Executive Order 11625 (1971): Gives the secretary of commerce the authority to implement federal policy in support of minority business enterprise programs, to provide technical and management assistance to disadvantaged businesses, and coordinate activities between all federal departments to aid in increasing minority business development.

Public Works Employment Act (1977): Requires that at least 10% of federal construction contracts be awarded to businesses owned by minorities. Still in effect today!!!!

Public Law 95–507 (1978): Mandates that if a buyer's firm is awarded a federal contract that exceeds $10,000, the buyer is required to make “maximum efforts” in awarding subcontracts to small minority businesses. If the federal contract exceeds $500,000 ($1,000,000 for construction projects), prior to contract award the buyer’s firm must submit an acceptable buying plan that includes percentage goals for the utilization of minority businesses. The plan must also detail procedures for identifying and dealing with minority businesses.

Here's the most recent reiteration under the CFR at 23 CFR 230B. It's lengthy so I'll just post some excerpts...

Sec. 230.201 Purpose.

To prescribe the policies, procedures, and guidance to develop, conduct, and administer supportive services assistance programs for minority, disadvantaged, and women business enterprises.

Sec. 230.204 Implementation of supportive services.

(a) Subject to the availability of funds under 23 U.S.C. 140(c), the State highway agency shall establish procedures to develop, conduct, and administer minority business enterprise training and assistance programs specifically for the benefit of women and minority businesses. Supportive services funds allocated to the States shall not be used to finance the training of State highway agency employees or to provide services in support of such training. State highway agencies are not required to match funds allocated to them under this section. Individual States are encouraged to be actively involved in the provision of supportive services. Such involvement can take the form of staff, funding, and/or direct assistance to augment the supportive services efforts financed by Federal-aid funds.

(b) State highway agencies shall give preference to the following types of services:

(1) Services relating to identification, prequalification, and certification assistance, with emphasis on increasing the total number of legitimate minority business enterprises participating in the Federal-aid highway program;

(2) Services in connection with estimating, bidding, and technical assistance designed to develop and improve the capabilities of minority businesses and assist them in achieving proficiency in the technical skills involved in highway construction;

(3) Services designed to develop and improve the immediate and long-term business management, recordkeeping, and financial accounting capabilities;

(4) Services to assist minority business enterprises to become eligible for and to obtain bonding and financial assistance;

(5) Services relating to verification procedures to ensure that only bona fide minority business enterprises are certified as eligible for participation in the Federal-aid highway program;

(6) Follow-up services to ascertain the outcome of training and assistance being provided; and

(7) Other services which contribute to long-term development, increased opportunities, and eventual self-sufficiency of minority business enterprises

I can go on and on and on.

Regarding the amount of contracts given, who knows? The point is, they're given special considering due to color, creed and/or gender. That's the crux of the issue.

Also, you can't use Brown and Root, Blackwater and TSA as an example. Show me a minority owned business that offers these services. We're talking about your every day run of the mill government contract right here in our back yard.


Regarding access to education, you're kidding me right? I've experienced this first hand. I've had people tell me they can't give me money for college, not because my grades were not good enough, not because I had too much money but, because I was a white male. Rather, money was held for minorities with GPA's and educational back grounds inferior to me and mine. Same thing goes for racial quotas in access to admission.

Granted, recent court decisions have put a dent into the consideration of race in admissions policy. But, we've faced quotas and will continue to do so for years to come as the swing away from affirmative action is being taken on at the state and not the federal level. Texas and (believe it or not) California {Via Prop 209} are leading the way.

Another poor analogy is comparing the bank robber to Micheal Richard's comments. Hardly correlated. One is a crime against everyone. The other is an example of the double standards imposed against white males in today's United States.

Aint, you're a smart guy. I know it based upon your prior posts. But, in this case, I can't see the point you're trying to make. None of this is false or a misguided perception. It's what we are all facing and living with. The post and the subject of the post just point it out.
