Be careful of what you've wished for, the Bucs may get some recycled has been, instead. Look what happened to the Fins after Shula!

I guess the Chucky faces just aren't cutting it anymore!  Kinda sucks because he is a good coach.  I wonder if anybody is ever going to make Tampa a true contender.  Nobody's done it yet, so you can't call him all bad.  John did a great job in San Diego.  Maybe it hasn't been long enough since the Buc's gave up their gay filet pirate!

The Bucs won a Super Bowl 37 in Chuckie's first year, but, went 60-57 during Gruden's tenure. If memory serves me, Gruden inherited Dungy's Bucs.

Allen, Gruden Dismissed

Jan 16, 2009 -

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today announced that they have dismissed head coach Jon Gruden and General Manager Bruce Allen.

“We will be forever grateful to Jon for bringing us the Super Bowl title, and we thank Bruce for his contributions to our franchise,” said Buccaneers Co-Chairman Joel Glazer. “However after careful consideration, we feel that this decision is in the best interest of our organization moving forward.”

That's a really really bad comparison Aint. Gruden couldn't hold Shulas jock strap. To find as good a replacement as Shula, was and is proving to be impossible ,where as to replace Gruden with a better coach is very likely. Besides Shula retired and Gruden was fired. No one can live up to Shula. You know that little perfect season, winningest coach thing. The Bucs organization finally stepped up to the plate and listened to the fans. Now that the Gruden ego is gone they have a chance to get an offense, although the team may struggle for a couple years thanks to Monty leaving. Rumor is already starting about a Dungy reunion.

Dungy's not coming back to Tampa to coach. Why would he after the way he was ousted? He was also wayyy too conservative and I don't think Tampa would have won a superbowl unless Dungy was willing to do some major changing offensively here. As for Gruden, he was awful! This is something that has been long overdue. The players didn't respect him and he carried himself as if he was bigger than the game. John Lynch should have retired as a Buc, he flat out lied to Kennan McCardell, and he has treated several othe players like trash. He'll probably land a head coaching job somewhere else in the land of coaching carousel.

Shaula may have the most wins by count.....But, George Halas has a better percentage of wins. Having played a similar number of games. That trumps Shula in my book.

I must say I have to agree with every point you made. I heard the DJ on sports radio on the way home say that he already had a call from a players wife saying "thank god"! I don't recall ever hearing any players praise him.

ESPN expect Morris to be the new HC.  I don't know how smart that is.  I wanted Gruden out but being replaced by a nobody.  I hope I am wrong!!

I was comparing Shula to Gruden not Halas. And I was talking about the most wins not the best win %. Plus Halas coached for ten years longer than Shula and had 31 ties compared to Shulas 6. And dont forget that pesky "and still history making" perfect season thing to go along with the pro football hall of fame. Nice try though.

Dungy's Colts offense got him into the playoffs for the last 7-8 consecutive seasons, but, I agree he ain't gonna be a Buc, again. They'll hire a nobody and drift aimlessly like the Fins did after Shula.

Gruden won the Superbowl with Dungy's deff.
Dungy won the Superbowl with the Colt's off.

That argument is pointless.  I think people forget Dungy did not draft Sapp, Brooks, and Lynch. Sam Wyche did.

1995
1st Round 12th Pick - DT Warren Sapp (Miami)
1st Round 28th Pick - OLB Derrick Brooks (FSU)
2nd Round 11th Pick - DB Melvin Johnson
4th Round 7th Pick - FS Jerry Wilson
5th Round 9th Pick - CB Clifton Abraham (FSU)
6th Round 8th Pick - LB Wardell Rouse

Got lynch in 1993

Morris is the new HC I just hope the Glazier know something we don't.  I wanted Gruden out but I am not sure about this move.  I would have liked to see Shanahan here.

It would be great if Dungy came back as the General Manager, and Shannahan or Cowher became the head coach. But I really can't see it happening. Nice to think about though.

Gruden did have the best record as the Buccaneers head coach, but like said above, he inherited an already Superbowl bound team from Dungy in 2002. I think he would be a good fit in Dallas to tell you the truth. They already have a good team, he could walk right in and get something done. But with a young team like the Buccs, you have to get someone else(Cowher/Shannahan). Gruden isn't buillt to do that. Good move by the Glazer's in my opinion.

I believe Shannahan already said he doesn't want to coach anymore, but only time and MONEY will dictate that.

What Buc football team were you watching back then  Huh ? It was a #1 buc defense that kept them winning games. The offense was nothing but 2yards and a cloud of dust  Wacko .

Shula did one full season of winning all his games. Thats 100% buddy. Almost did it again the next year. Your boy Halas has nothing on Shula. RECOGNIZE PERFECTION. RECOGNIZE UNDEFEATED. RECOGNIZE 1972 MIAMI DOLPHINS!!!!!

One thing I don't like with Morris is that everytime someone asks him what kind of Off. or Deff. he wants to run he skirts the question everytime!

I do like these moves!

getting rid of:
-Offensive Coordinator/Offensive Line coach Bill Muir
-Offensive Assistant coach Jay Gruden
-Assistant Offensive Line coach George Yarno.

there was more but I agree with those.
