Sorry Brady I forgot to answer your questions in my previous post.

I have a couple of other questions.... What kind of frequency would people like to have SDTA races? Every 3 wks Once a month? One every other month? How about the season? two short seasons or maybe even 3, spring, summer & fall One long season, or two short seasons? Dave and I would like some input on this as well. Who is Dave? Is he some new guy or a behind the scenes person that we never get to see? I think I remember some guy named Dave that used to race one of the old school Banshee things but I heard all he does now is sell Hay.  ;DI have my opinions, but I'll see what the response is before I say anything.

Also, for the Thunderbowl series, would people like to see the TT and flat track series combined or keep them seperate?

Spectators:
Richard does a fantastic job creating the flyer's but who is taking responsibility to make sure the flyer's are being distributed to the local shops? The local Ocala people are our target audience and the ones that we need to get the flyer's to. I believe the local Motorcycle shops including Harley dealerships are a no brainer and most have a board to post these types of flyer's. Can we post flyer's on the fence at Ocala Speedway? I think they race on Fridays so the dates would not conflict. How about go cart shops or speed shops in Ocala? Truck accessory/wheel tire stores, feeds stores, heavy equip rental stores, Asphalt plants, trucking Companies, Auto parts stores, OK you get the idea Marketing 101 right!

Shawn,
As far as the flyers go, when I do them up I try to send them to everyone I have on the email list. I also send the PDF with the jpeg out so that whoever wants to print it or post it on the web can do so. The PDF is for printing since most print shops and printers will recognize the file and the print quality from the PDF is 100% better than trying to print from the jpeg. You can either burn the PDF to a cd or save to a flash drive that can be taken to a printer for quantities. Cheaper than printing yourself considering the price of ink!

Brady, I think that you and the "hay salesman" have done a jam up job for this year considering the hurdles. I believe that once a month is realistic when TBowl and SDTA have their respective series worked out, as long as they don't conflict with each other. I know I didn't make as many races away from TBowl, but the transport expense (gas prices and lodging) put a hurtin' on me.

If anyone has talked to anyone or place of business that would put up the flyers send me their email address. Sometimes they will put the flyers up without any trouble. I know of a couple of shops that you have to physically take them and ask to display them on the board. I am trying to work with a couple of bike shops around this neck of the woods to drum up more competitors and spectators. With the enthusiasm shown here, I think we can make things happen in 2009.

How about mentioning in the flyer that overnight camping is allowed. I'm sure there are people from out of town that don't realize that they wouldn't have to make the late night drive back home. Just a thought.

Good point. Especially if there is practice the next day. I know last race a couple of riders did stay the night at the track and got some practice in. Am sure Richard will see this and add it to the flyer

Thanks

Putting on the flyer about camping is a no-brainer. I will do it when things get started again.
Now, here is something to ponder; I've been designing these on an 8.5x11 format so that everyone that wants to print it out at home can. I can also do it legal sized which would give me more room to put on the information so that it is not all bunched up and running together and most people could still print it at home. I personally believe that something like the entire schedule with some of the info. on it, or as much as can put it on it with the full schedule, the 11x14 would be more effective and eye catching. These could typically be put on an entrance door to a bike shop, parts store or any kind of business where it would get some exposure. A lot of parts stores usually have a bank of books on top of the counter that these could be put on too.
I'm going to try and keep TBowl's and SDTA info separate except when they hold the SDTA race at TBowl. So, whenever the new schedule is etched in stone for both entity's I will do what I can to get it done.
However, I am taking bids from people that would like to have their picture on the flyers. Wink Your bids can consist of, but not limited to, parts, race fuel, tires (18 street tracker Dunlop for the rear), anything that is related to flat-tracking motorcycles! lol

could we have the line ups posted right after practice have our riders meeting and then go right into the heat races?

This could be done..however, at the drivers meeting things are ALWAYS changed. That is why Liz or myself try to attend the meetings so we can change line up to fit everyones needs.  Line ups are changed a few times by the drivers, examples: # changes, bike changes, class changes, deciding to change from 1 class to another makes us have to change the line up for 2 classes on 2 heats, then recopy the line up, highlight, hand it out, and post it. It is not a hard job.....just time consuming when we have to change it a lot.

I can imagine the kinds of headaches that go with the scoring. And do we ever want to keep the ladies happy! Grin
A quick question for RD and or Brady; Why not start the bikes and quads on the same line? It seems like the bikes and the quads are going about the same speed into the first turn. A couple of us were pondering that question. Wouldn't be easier on the starter (the liner upper lol)

As for Targeting locals in Ocala - Jeff and I do our best to spread the word.  We try to put up flyers and pass out cards and post cards.  I had some made up last year and with the new seasons coming up I will again try to get postcards made up so people have something to take home and put on their fridge.  I think that is our biggest downfall -- People hear about us from someone but they don't have anything to take home with them to remind them that racing is going on.  We have put flyers up at the Yamaha shop, the Honda Shop and even hung some at gas stations.  Some of us are trying but again We need to get the word to the high schools - and maybe the colleges? UF and CFCC? Although I know most of these kids are going to school - Some of them might have quads or bikes at the house or even at mom and dad's.  They might want to come out for a night of racing and get hooked!  I know I am -- Also guys how do we get women coming out on bikes?HuhHuh  I am sure all of us lady riders would love to have some more competition!
I like the 2 practice, 2 heat and 1 feature --
Merritt gets a little tired when both TT and Flat -Track are ran but shes a trooper.
Thanks Brady for an awesome year - Gliches n ALL

I still want to start where the quads do! lol I barely get mine shifted into third before I start to put it sideways. Anyway, I didn't hear anything so I thought I'd try to rattle someone's chain. Grin

I like the 2 heats, 1 main. And i think everyone should make it to the main, If not I'd never get to race...lol I like the seat time if I never win...lol. If we had some more 2 stroke quads it would be cool to race our own class. but theres only 2 of us right now. So I'll keep geting in everyones way for now. Wink
