All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men and women to do nothing.

Cheropride, what part of Obama's stance did you not understand on gun laws.
He is going to leave it up to the individual states to decide the laws. If your state decides to enstate a ban or new law then you could write your governor. Even before that would happen, there would be an amendment which would we vote on at the polls. Do you honestly think they would send out officials and go to each home a gun is registered in and round up all the firearms.
Leaving it up to the states is wrong, it is our constitutional right! And you are so wrong if you think this is something that we would "vote" on... Illinois, and the other states did NOT get to vote on it. That's why it went all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States... Which brings me to point number 2, the President does appoint who goes to sit on the Supreme Court...
Not sure which state, think it was either Illinois or DC, whereas a man shot an intruder, and the man was charged with a crime because he broke the law, because that State banned guns.... How does that make sense... The Supreme Court THANK GOD, stood on the Admendment 2, and the charge was overturned... See how close that was, had the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the State and punished the man for having a handgun, that would of had wide-spread effect on the Right to Bear Arms....
Besides how can our Admendment rights be fair for one state, but not another.....

BTW, here's another
for ya....
Obama -
"...proposing to make it a felony for a gun owner whose firearm was STOLEN (ya know breaking into ones house) from his residence which caused harm to another person, if that weapon was not securely stored in that home
"..... Hello, my home should that not equal secure... So if some crack addict breaks into my home, steals my gun, uses to cause injury, I am the victim of a robbery is then charged with a felony.... Yea, your right, what I am thinking, that makes perfect sense to me....
Oh yea, at the same point... He voted NO on making gang members "eligible" for the death penalty if they KILL someone to help their gang....
Honestly, people need wake up, read some of the Bills that on the table, and what each party/candidate stands for... To respond to my previous post, and to say, it's okay for some States to over look my Constitutional Right is okay, wow, that just blows me away.... I guess you are right...

Lets look at this from another side. Which candidate would be less likely to aid in the closing of riding and off roading areas? lets see Palins husband races snowmobiles and they owned a ATV/snowmobile dealership in Alaska. Obama is for reducing Hydrocarbon emissions and eliminating all unnecessary emissions such as produced by lawnmowers (HMM ATVs may be viewed as unnecessary) he has also talked about limiting the number of noncommercial large trucks on the roads ( good luck towing a trailer full of bikes with a smart car). This is an issue that would affect everyone on this site.

The thing is, Obama surely can deliver a good speech. If you listen to his speeches, he is one heck of a speaker... But that's what politicians do, and grant it, he is really good at that... But when you stop, and look at his records, what he has said in the past and present, then you see the real Obama... The truly tragic thing is, most American's don't do that. They like how he speaks, he is surely charismatic, much more so that McCain, and that's what is winning people over. But they dont honestly take the time to look at what he really stands for... I so look forward to the day they start debating, and if you have noticed, Obama don't like alot of straight up debating among candidates, cause that is not his strong suit, he is a speaker.... He likes to win over crowds...
But the facts, are the facts. He is surely the rubber-band man, cause if any other politican had half the stuff come out about them, as Obama has, they would be done... But nothing sticks to this guy... People have blinders on... They all think he is the great Messiah, you ask me, he is the freakin anti-Christ... (I know little deep), but I honestly do NOT trust the guy... That's just my opinion.... He surely is not in line with my relm of thinking... And if more people stop listening to the liberal nut job media, and look at the issues, and where he truly stands, they would surely have a different opinion of him...

I am just happy someone agreed with me... It is kind of scary when you talk with people, and as the old saying goes, "can't see the forrest through the trees"... And back to what this post started with, and that is Sarah Palin... To be honest, when it was first annouced that she was the pick for VP, I was like, what the fetch... But you know what, the more I hear her, and of her, and she stands for, she rocks!!! I think McCain made an awesome choice in selecting her as his VP running mate... It also says alot for McCain, he didn't go w/who and/or what everyone thought he should, he found someone that will really make a difference... I really think she brings alot to the table... She is the whole thing!!!

This just all keeps sounding like some sort of a battered wife. Are we so use to the abuse that we say, "sure we've been slapped around sometimes, but, he really loves me"! "At least I know what to expect from him(McCain)". "Where would I go, what would I do, if I got a new man(trust someone else)? Etc..

So what you're saying is switch over to am radio and listen to those radical right wingers and believe what they say. You do not have some underground insight on either party, nor do I. You have your thoughts and beliefs, as do I. I love having that right, being able to speak/display them and love this country for it. This thread has been exhausted and has gotten old. The upcoming debates should be good and I look forward to watching them.
I'm sure there are many more debate threads that will follow this one thru the next few months.
Now I must get ready to watch some a$$ kicking in the ufc fights. Have fun out there and be safe!

Chero, I'm absolutely sorry if my remarks are offensive to you. You do not deserve it. I did not intend to aim them at you nor any specific individual. I'm just puzzled as why some are so afraid of one guy, yet not the other. Early in his campaign, McCain almost quit because he could not raise enough contributions to continue. Now, he's the Second Coming? Millions of folks are scared that he's the second coming of GW!

Oh yea, and lets spend 852 billion dollars on Global Provery, when we got ppl living on our own streets, and losing their houses... Yea I am sorry, what was I thinking... Oh yea, I almost forgot, when they take away our 2nd admendment rights to bear arms, and I get arrested for shooting someone who enter into my house, you're right... I must understand, they didn't mean it, they just need rehabilitation, and who am I am to want to defend my house!....
Ph gosh, what am I thinking... The same ppl that cross our borders ILLEGALLY, sure I don't mind paying my social security taxes to take care of them... Yes you are right everyone deserves to live in the land of the free.... Oh BTW, you don't mind if I burn my flag....

Yea what you said was deep, but I also say thank you for understanding... I am truly not trying to make this personal. We ALL have our own beliefs, and that what makes us all unique... I am not some right-wing nut-job I really am not! Heck I am registered as an independent... But I research, I learn, I look into the facts, and the more I look, the more I get ticked.... Forget demo or rep, if anyone tells me that I don't have the right to carry or have an handgun in my home, well then I am not going to agree w/that person.... Just like you, I live in Broward, and you know what, at any moment some nut-job can come into my home, and try to take what is most precious to me, my son, my family... Being a woman, honestly, I feel more vulnerable to that type of attack, but you know what makes us even, I will surely shot to protect what I love....
I don't HATE Obama, I just wish he would be more open, more honest about what he has said, what he believes, and what he wants... I look at the Bills passes by Congress, and I look at how HE voted, and I don't agree with how he voted... How can you say it's not okay for someone to have a handgun in their home, but when a gangbanger shots and KILLs someone, we have to understand... That goes against my core, and I will defend that... How can you say the US Goverment should Not make ENGLISH the official language... Come on,we are not asking that you don't speak spanish... I could go on and on, and on.. but it makes not difference...

I would never ask you to just listen to what people say on the radio or T.V. I say do reaserch and see for yourself how each person has voted on the issues, look at what each has accomplished, look at each persons background as well as their parents. Why look at their parents??? because most people are a reflection of their parents. Look at who each candidate hangs around with and what special intrest groups they belong to and what that groups motto and goals are. All these things paint the true picture of who someone is and what they are about ( you are who you hang out with). I vote using the absentee ballot system, the reason is if there is a person or a topic to be voted on I can research it/them before making a decision. When you are standing at the voters booth you don't have that option, the internet is a wonderful tool you just need to take the time to do your own research.

450 very well said.... Just take the time to research... And today we have a very powerful tool, the internet... It's one thing what a candidate says or puts into their speeches, its another thing to go back and see how they voted. That's all... Do NOT trust the media, regardless of where you get your media from... Each media, they all have their own agenda, whether it be right or left, liberal or conservative, democrat or repubican... We all have the right to believe what we believe, we all have the right to speak our minds. But with all the wealth of information so easily available to us today, all I say, is research the facts... Let the facts speak for themselves... And you know what, if you believe with another candidates facts, then that is your right, and if I do, then that is my right...
Honestly, I hate the fact that it has been drawn so down party lines... I long for the day, I find a candidate, regardless of party affiliation, speaks from his or her heart, and uses some dang common sense... That's what I look for.. I don't care if that candidate is democrate, repubilican, or independent...

What's sad here is that appkkfx hasn't had a single theory or thought on his own. Everything he's brought up is a hyperlink to things done under the current administration or something that doesn't support his position. This is a tact most Obama supporter use. You know, "Look how bad Bush had been!! Therefore, you can only vote for Obama. Never mind his policy proposals are insane and unworkable."
appkkfx, you know what? I get the Wallstreet Journal delivered to my home every day it is published. So, I've read all the articles. I've researched the facts. I've considered the alternatives. More importantly, no, actually, most importantly, I understand it.
With respect to fiscal policy, Obama's plan isn't' workable. Nobody other than those who either: (a) are brainwashed by the "change" chant; (b) vote the party line no matter what; (c) expect the government to provide for them (ie.- entitlement); or (d) haven't a clue how America's economy actually works, think for a minute that Obama's economic proposals make sense.
Take for example your hyperlink to the Wallstreet Journal article you posted a while back (after, I might add, making derogatory remarks about me...again, a sign of inability and insecurity). That article was contained in the
opinion
section of the WSJ and written by
Jason Furman
and
Austan Goolsbee
. Obviously, when reading this article, apkkfx didn't realize that not only was the article in the
OPINION
section but, more importantly, it was
written by Obama's economic policy director and senior economic adviser as a rebuttal to the WSJ's previous endorsement of McCain's economic plan.
Go ahead apkkfx.....go wipe the egg off your face.... we'll wait.
Now, lets deal with your NY Post hyperlink. You should read it again. Paying close attention to what it says about Obama's plan. Do you realize that it's exactly what I posted originally relative to an increase in the amount of taxation we as American's will face? Do you realize that it's a tax on business? Do you understand and comprehend that the people he seeks to tax are already paying the majority of the tax in the United States and that this proposal would only negatively impact those tax payers and the businesses they own and operate? Who do you think those burdens get passed onto?
You missed some egg.
Now then, onto your link to the Obama site. This one was great. Again, not much for free thought I see. Another great example of taxing businesses in such a manner that will CERTAINLY be passed on to the end consumer. I mean, you don't think the companies will just absorb it do you? That's not how economics work.
And I also love the whole $50,000,000,000.00 jumpstart plan. How do we pay for it? Better yet, who pays for it? Again, it's not there and this makes zero sense.
Now, look. You missed that egg in your hair. Go get it out. We will still be here.
On to the "Yemen Times" post
by Dr. Stiglitz.
I've read his work. Bet you haven't.
He's about as far left as it gets but, he understands economics and I am proud of you for actually finding something by him. However, this link deals only with the current state of affairs and not proposed policy by the candidates. I mean, anyone can tell you it's raining...when it's raining.
Okay, the egg is gone. But you still look perplexed.
Now about that Washington Post link. Of course McCain is going to give the biggest breaks to those making the most. Why? Because they pay the most. Not just in terms of sheer dollars but, at the margin as well. (This means that the percentage of income the wealthy spend on taxes is far greater than the less wealthy). Now, if you wanted to free up money to spend it seems to me lowering taxes would be a great way to do it. Especially if you do it so that those with the most disposable income will have more to dispose of.
Finally, I think you need to look at what the democrats have accomplished over the last 2 years. With the exception of throwing the economy further down the toilet.....nothing. For you to think that the House and Senate can't impact us that much, that fast shows that you really don't understand the way the economy works or the power these people have.
appkkfx, I appreciate your obvious rage and even enjoy your attempts at an intellectual jab every now and then (albeit failing). However, it is so painfully obvious that you haven't taken the time to research the plans on both sides or tried to understand the implications of each. This is something you really should do on your own and not based on the opinions of others. Also, the next time you post a hyperlink in an attempt to prove or bolster a point your think you're making, make sure it's not opinion and that is actually on subject. We'll all take you a bit more seriously.
Enjoy the UFC fight. Hopefully Liddell's battle turns out better for him than this did for you.

450 very well said.... Just take the time to research... And today we have a very powerful tool, the internet... very well said. I at first was like WTF when Palin was annonced as running mate, then I did the reserch and started to like her but after hearing her speak I was like this woman sounds as if she is speaking from her heart it may have been a prepared speech but I believe many of the words spoken were her very own and from the heart. I am still reserching her and her life decisions but so far She is OK in my book.
