hello all, have not posted on this site for a while, but i would appreciate some input please. soon to be buying another atv. already have an 05 kingquad 700(its nice). 06 bruteforce 750( i like the king quad better). i have been out of the atv scene loop for a while and am currently in Iraq. (not many atv magazines here)
JUST WONDERING WHAT THE ATV MAGAZINES HAVE BEEN SAYING LATELY IN THE SHOOTOUTS BETWEEN THE BIG BOYS. have checked atv forums online when i get the chance (not to often) and always get brand loyal junkies saying what they ride is the best...blah....blah.....blah....... any input is appreciated. THANKS

I honestly think the top manufacturers are Polaris, Honda and Can-am.
If you want the big boy bikes = Polaris or Can-am.
Everything else = Honda.
But thats my opinion. I think it boils down to what type of rider you are that says the bike.

a cvt uses one big fat belt, its not a big deal, cvt is actually pretty nice. theres less parts, less chance for failure, just 2 pullies, one expands and one gets smaller making the belt climb up and that changes the ratio. but for big tires and mud, thats not was a cvt trans was really made for... what im saying is i really wouldn't stay away from a bike just becasue of a cvt trans, unless your shooting for an all out mud bike...

I did a lot of research on this before I bought my quad in April. I think for the money, the King Quad is your best buy. You can buy a kingquad and mod it to be a nasty machine for the price of most stock ATVs. That's just my opinion though. I'm sure everyone can find an argument to that!
The only 2 major problems with the king are the air filter is horrible. You need to get a after market air filter as soon as you buy it or risk blowing your engine within a few hundred miles. The '08 has gotten a better filter though. Also, the CVT exhaust is horrible if your going to be riding in water or mud. Easy snorkel job though and depending on how you do it, can cost from $15-$80.
If you have any king quad questions, feel free to PM me. I've done my fair share of research on them. I don't know much about any of the other quads. I do know I wish Suzuki would go with the V-Twin though!

CanAm 800s for power, speed and no shift shock(CVT). The gear-driven bikes are better for deep water(if you don't know how to quickly drain water from your CVT by winching it up a tree or getting a buddy to help you lift the front end of the bike up). And, I just don't see 800 differentials blowing-out, like on the gear-driven ones that have oversized tires. The 800's CVT belts do break, cost $120 and takes you about 45-60 minutes to change one in the field(with socket wrench/set and a driven pulley expander P/N 529035747 to spread the secondary pulley so you can slip new belt one(you can also use a long metric bolt, instead, but, I forget the exact size). Go to
http://aurorawheelers.com/forum54/
for more details. Also, you can install a drain plug on the CVT cover.

I have two BF750i's and love them. I use them to get in and out of my camp in the Big Cypress and have zero problems with them. Just my .02.

I have ridden, worked on, and experimented with many bikes, and overall, I LOVE the brute force for mud, and grizzly 700 for trails. Either way you slice it, can't go wrong with a kawi, yamaha, or can-am

catvos(google it) and SLC(state line customs) both do lifts for the kings, GORILLA also makes axles along with tuner custom cycles.
It takes quite a bit to make a KQ turn the big meats good in some thick mud.
I rode an 08 750 KQ and wouldn't even think about buying one after that, also did and supposed to do A LOT of work on it.
honestly it depends on what you are going to do with it mud, water, trails, mud bog race etc etc.

The bottom line is that there is no best all around atv. It all depends on what kind of riding you do. I love the KQ for trails. I love the Foreman for mud and the Brute or Cam-Am for speed. Every quad has it's pros and cons so decide which type of riding you will do most and then find the bike that suits you're riding style.

thanks for the responses, thanks for the pics asmart82. Da_Mtg_Man i GUESS what i was asking was what the magazines like dirtwheels, quad and can't remember the others, have to say in shootouts, (usually riders of various skill levels and ages comparing and rating the machines on various terrains). i really do appreciate other peoples comments. but i have to disagree with you. there will always be quads, dirtbikes, streetbikes, cars, trucks, suvs at the TOP of the list. and of course there are those you wouldnt want your worst neighbor waisting his/her money on because you know from personal experiences of yours or your riding buddies that they stink or just have some constant issues. but maybe i'm the only one who reads (when i'm able to) the shootouts and tests on the machine i'm getting ready to spend between 6 and 9 thousand dollars on. no offense Da_Mtg_Man. thanks Kawa3 , anoriginal......

I am a mudder, and I just did a bunch to a king...I don't think I would buy one, it's a grizzly w/o power steering, and less power.

i ride a stock Eiger and that thing never gets stuck my uncle had a Can-Am 800(with mud tires) and that thing would get stuck more than my stock eiger. also think weight, when my eiger gets stuck i just pick it up and move it over, try doing that to Can-Am 800 you wont get it to budge. when u buy ur bike just think of a weight factor if ur mudding in a heavy bike it will sink quicker and bottom out

why else buy a 4X4. when i ride a 4X4, it is a all out mud bike. if youre just cruising around and crap, then fine, the belt is ok. no problem. but ive seen some get wet and then no go. i understand some people get big 4x4s for just riding. but if i got one, it would have to be a Honda just for that reason. not to mention that they are the best and im very brand loyal (sorry to the starter of the thread). i get bored riding slow unless im tearing stuff up in da mud.

Yea, you must be in a dream world...haha, eiger, lol.
I guarantee any big bore bike with comparable mods will walk all over an eiger, honda, etc. I've both DONE and SEEN it with my very own two eyes. You just can't compare the power and ground clearance. A big bore on 29.5's is hard to stop...
