I am having a problem with the carb on a 2004 bombadiar rally 175. I replaced the stock carb (VM24) with a VM26 which Carb Parts Warehouse recommended. The bike is running very rich and I am getting gas in the oil. I checked the floats and they do not seem to be sticking. The plugs keep fouling. It smells rich at idle and while riding. CPW gave me spare jets with the carb and I have reduced it down to a 25 idle jet and a 130 main jet. Still rich. I have the clip on 2 on the jet needle. My son rides the bike in the swamp in Florida. There is not a choke on the carb, it has what is called a starting circuit. Any thoughts? I am not sure but it may be a bad carb. I have cleaned it throughly to make sure no dirt.

i bet the float valve is dirty. if the floats are functioning and its dumping enough gas to get in the oil than your float valve is staying open becasue there probably some dirt in the valve holding the valve open. sometimes on an older carb you'll need to bend up the the thing on the floats that push up on the float valve also. this happens to my rotax all the time since i have a crappy fuel filter.
the reason i say its not jetting is becasue the only way to have gas in your oil is having gas siting on the piston while its not running, like overnight as your float valve is stuck open it is letting gas just dump down the intake slowly and then sits on the piston and seeps by overnight, getting into your oil. just like what happens when you have bad injectors on a car or truck
