The race is now in the books. The turnout was great, 57 in all! A big thanks to Shawn McNarry for networking with so many and getting a huge turnout for the Motorcycle classes! There were alot of new faces in the quad classes as well so please everyone continue to invite others to come check out the racing. Keep checking the calendar for upcoming races.  Thanks,

What a race! Definately some great racing today. A good turnout of quads and motorcycles, the weather was great, a nice track & facility, and the racing went nice and smooth. Props to all the riders for helping make sure we got done on schedule.

Thank You to everyone who came out. See everyone at the next race at the Ocala Speedway.

What happen to the amateur bike class. I thought we started out with a nice number (10) of people and they kept dropping off? Lost 5 people? 10 in heat 1, 7 in heat 2, 5 in the main?

A huge THANX to Brady and Dave who didn't bring their own bikes to race because they wanted to put all their time and effort into a smooth show...They pulled off a great event that pleased the track owners who are wanting to see more of our group.
GREAT JOB!!!!!

GREAT JOB!!!!!
Yes they were very impressed! So much that they asked us at least 4 times to come back and they are now offering us a Saturday night date...possibly July 5. The daytime races tend to create a dusty track situation. The groove blued over but the topside stayed dusty. They are also offering us a full crew to score, register, flag etc so that even Brady and I can race. Thanks to everyone who came out, hope everyone enjoyed it. It was a great day.

Hey guys, it was an awesome time. I thought we had a really good show of motorcycles that made for some excellent racing. The vintage class was fairly large and had some good riders in it.
I do have a question about entrants: I know you can run several classes at the same time but, if you are entered in the expert class should you be allowed to enter in the amateur class? Only reason I ask is Dave or Brady were saying that if it looked like you beating or outriding everyone in that class that you would not be allowed to run it. Just saw a name in the standing that finished second and then first in the amateur class.
All in all, was a really good time with first rate racing and facilities. We will do it again. Richard Grin

Hello Richard,

The reason I allowed a rider to enter the Amateur and Expert class was because he approached me at sign up and requested the possibility of riding 2 classes, we discussed that the only class he could enter other than Amateur was Expert due to his age not being over 50 and his bike not being eligible for Vintage.

I asked him about his riding/racing experience and he explained to me that his first ever Flat Track race was in Bike Week of this yr so in my mind he his still considered Amateur status. Now that he has finished so well in the Expert class Brady, Dave and myself will need to evaluate/establish the criteria for promotion from the Amateur class to the Expert class unless the rider decides to promote himself which I have not had the opportunity to discuss with him yet.

Please remember this was our first race with the new classes and things like this will come up, maybe we need a Open class?

I knew that amateur class was fast. Hell I laid it down going into turn 3 too hot trying to keep up with them. What the hell was I thinking. Was also confused at sign in. Vintage bike....first race......figured amateur was the right class....not this time. Will sign up vintage next time for us old guys. Young guns are fast

Shawn,
No worries from me. I was just curious about it as he looks to be fast. Of course standings don't always reflect how the racing was on track. The vintage class was, I thought, a pretty tough class. I did thoroughly enjoy the racing and just have to get faster (and get back into some sort of decent shape).
My bike responded real well to the changes I had made to it and would like to do some more events. Like I said earlier, you guys really went out of your way to make this a good time for all that rode. My hat is off to you all. Thanks again,

By the way, for anyone that may be interested, Dave (#25 TT500 Yam) didn't break his shoulder but did bust up his bike when he tangled with the other rider. He said it was a hard hit. Broke the brake bracket and crushed the cone on the exhaust pipe. Nothing too serious as he said he will be here for Ocala in May. Richard

He finished in the back where Rapturds always finish. Grin

Seriously, I think he spun out, which put him in the back. It was a VERY pretty bike though.
