I don't know how big the hp difference is from 3.0 to the 4.0, but the 3.0 is terrible, he only gets 15mpg too, and very cramped interior, i wouldn't buy one. one time i reached over and floored it on the highway, it did so little it was downright embarrassing for him, i actually felt bad. lol

Most reliable vehicle we have own was a 90's F150. I think it was a 95? But man, that thing wouldn't die. It always had atleast 500lbs of crap in the back and the odometer has rolled twice. Has probably 800k miles on it. We sold it a long time ago, but we still see it driving around. Can't beat that

the odometer dont go to 999999? if not, it goes to 99999 and that would mean it rolled 8 times.

Honda's sucks, Toyota's suck and dodge are plain cheep, low quality and normally wont last you like a Chevy or ford(excluding fords diesels) will, Chevys normally have more power than ford. don't buy a newer truck, there aint nothing more reliable than a 88-95 Chevy pickup with a 350/454 tbi... nothing. no other comes close as far as aftermarket and cheep as hell to work on, there aint a foreign piece of crap out there that can beet an old 350. I'm not a ford fan at all but the older fords with the 4.9 in line 6 will pretty much last forever, just not as nice as an equal year Chevy. pretty much any American made pickup with an i6 is normally reliable
rangers suck, i can barely fit in one and the ext cab is a joke.

90s f150s were reliable but WAY BEHIND,they still had solid front axles. fords 90s trucks looked comparable to Chevys trucks of the 80s. but they were reliable because they were really simple. the chevy was more advanced and just as reliable if not more at the time.
argue solid front axles all you want but the truth is the only thing they are good for is runing your truck in mud up to the windows, so unless you enjoy destroying your truck, wouldnt you rather have ifs that rides smooth or solid front that rides like a dump truck?
i should find the article of a 350tbi runing to a million miles, it went thru 3 transmitions in that time tho...

well, the guy asking this has sunk 4 out of 4 trucks he has had. so he enjoys destroying them. and i personally like how the strait axles ride. my F250 that i had with them stiff springs and the strait axles was awesome. it felt exactly like a dump truck. trucks arent supposed to ride smooth. if you want a smooth ride, buy a caddy.

lol, good response to fords trucks always being behind. dont get me wrong im not putting down soldid front axle trucks, iv always wanted a cheepo hardcore mud truck with a solid axle chevy... the difference is id be looking for a Chevy thats about 10 years older and it would be the equivelent or nicer than a 10 year newer ford. looking at my buddys 94 f150 compared to my 95 Chevy is rediculus, i mean dam the ford still has 2 peice windows, no tach, solid front axle, not to mention just looking at its features it looks alot older than a 94 Chevy. Ford just switched to common rail on their diesels in 08 when Chevy switched in 01. say what you will, ford has always been playing catch up and you know its true.
so am i saying fords arrent reliable... well no, not really(excluding diesels) just way behind and for the most part allot slower. another example of playing catch up just came to mind- the 454ss came out and ford counters it with the first lighting that had a big ole 351 in it. it goes back to the muscle car days boys, they have always been playing catch up when it comes to power and everything else.
so if i were to say i wouldnt buy a ford it wouldnt be because of reliability it would be just because Chevy offers far more. now dodge on the other hand, id say reliability is the reason i wouldnt buy. if you wana go fast get a dodge or a chevy, if you want to go fast and make it home get a chevy, and if you want to go slow and make it home-ford... Toyota, well thats just a joke, they build a bottom of the barrel 3/4 ton then call it a half ton and act like they got the baddest 1/2 ton around when really they got a bottom of the mill 3/4 ton.sorry if im offending ford fans but im not realy saying they suck, just countering what fox17 is saying to me about real trucks ride rough.

its tough to buy something strictly for reliability, theres alot of reliable trucks out there, no one can say which is the most reliable. you have to have some preference.

Similar story:
I started wrenching Fords and hated them in the 80s
I drove Toyota to work, Club raced Mazda/Honda (yeah I was a wanna be)
Now I own 4 Fords one is a 96 with +200k. They have done me well the last 10 years.
