the ktm is ready to go if you can afford it. if you do your own wrenching how you going to do it on the can-am with the spar tubes? (THEY ARE PRESSED NOT BOLTED) and look at the results of the last gncc. i have never ridden the 525 or the ds but the ktm 450 is out of this world. atv sports and dirt wheels loved the KTMs.

I don't know about the ds as I've never rode one but I own the ktm 525xc and am happy with it. Great power, handling, and egro's- you can't go wrong.

Although the can-am is getting great reviews, maybe better than ktm if ktm didn't have the Ohlins shocks, i won't touch one of their products until they start using the same fasteners all the way around, who wants to carry metric, standard, torx, and god knows what else they use. it's been this way since i can remember, all the way back to my snowmobile days in the 70's...you'd think they'd learn to standardize their fasteners, regardless of the country the parts come from.
until that time, i'd choose the ktm
