I'm not into the slammed look but I do want to lower my truck a little just to give it a different look.I only want to lower it two inches and was going to take the cheap way out and heat the front springs and put blocks in the back just to see if I like it. Stock springs are cheap to replace if I dont. My question is has anyone used this method and does it really affect the ride? If only lowering it two inches this way doesn't make that much of a handling difference I would just assume do that as apposed to the whole drop spindle routine.Thanks.

The problem with that kind of lowering is that it's nearly impossible to heat both springs the same amount and get the exact amount of drop on both sides. You are better off pulling the springs out and cutting them both at the same time and the same amount so it keeps everything consisent across the front.

If you do cut them, keep in mind not to cut them too short cuz when the suspension rebounds up the spring will most likely fall out causing big problems. keep in mind if you cut too much its hard to add some back on..

why not do it the right way and just buy aftermarket suspension??
i put $1,200 coilovers on my accord and it rides better than stock and i can set it as low or high as i want. and i got a camber kit for it to keep it from causing uneven tire wear.

spend some money and do it right. huge difference between after market suspension versus cutting your stock springs. i had both. i personally will never lower one of my cars again. you have to watch for to much things on the road. ditches, speed bumps, plaza entrances, gas station entrances and exits. when the bottom of your car starts scraping on stuff your gonna remember what i said.

thats true.my cars lowered about 3 inches right now. ive had my lip pop off like 3 times. lol. oil pan is kinda scratched up now.and never go over the parking stop on a parking lot. when you back out , your bumper will STAY . lol.

Yup all of that plus more. hopefully you dont catch a flood because your feet gonna get wet. Or your tires rubbing or putting to much people in your car. The list of stuff that can go wrong just goes on and  on. Its a never ending mission with a lowered car. Just get a 12 switch hydrolic set up and ride on 13's.

the "not being able to take too many people" factor doesnt really matter.
i like it personally.
my car never rubs . but i tell people it does so i dont have to take them home from school. because someone ALWAYS needs a ride. haha.

and driving the same route everyday i know where the potholes and dips and bumps are ,so i avoid them,
it also prevents me from driving like an idiot because my car may break.

  If you do it the cheap way, your going to have a cheap performance ride. It will be bumpy as hell too when you have no spring height to absorb the weight.

I only want to lower it two inches which does not seem like much for a truck plus I went from 15 inch rims to 17 inch rims so that seems like it would balance it out and not cause it to rub.I have alot of room under the fender wells that looks funny to me.I can't justify $1,200.00 right now because I have alot of other things I need to do first but if the lowering block way sucks I will remove them and wait until I can do it the right way.Thanks for the advice.

and for the rear u could prob. move the rear end from the bottom of the springs to the top or leaf springs cant be to hard to find

the blocks do not affect the back ride. all it does is lower the leafs further away from the axel. but towing and hauling will be a little bit different, dont try to strain the rear end. now the front, go to a couple of forums(depending on what your truck is) and either you can find a set of used springs from a wrecked truck, drop spindles, cup kit ect. another idea which I DO NOT RECOMEND is go to autozone or pepboys and get a set of coil spring compressor clamps(if you have springs on front). you can adjust these but the bad is if they pop off or when they pop off it will be a bad day. and dont forget bout torsion bars....there are all kinds of possibilities just do some research..  Just my two cents do not lower it. you probably throw a trailer or ATV in it so you hit a little bit of off road but it only takes one pointy rock to the oil pan and your looking for an engine or new truck. seriously think about what you do with your truck. in my opinion dont do it, spend that money on the finer things in life.
