Sprint Nextel will host its 2nd Annual True American Hero Benefit Motorcycle Ride, February 23rd, 2008, in partnership with America's Most Wanted and Sarasota County Sheriff's Department, to honor those Florida officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2007.
Sprint employees are encouraged to join law enforcement, motorcycle enthusiasts and other citizens who will gather and pay tribute to the 13 Florida agencies who lost a record total of 16 officers killed in the line of duty in 2007.
Employees can participate in the 45-mile ride, volunteer to help with coordination efforts or just come out to show your support for this worthwhile project. The event will kick-off Saturday morning, February 23, at the Sarasota Technical Institute, 4748 Beneva Road, Sarasota, Florida, at 9 a.m.
The benefit will feature John Walsh, host of "America's Most Wanted," as Grand Marshall with a complete AMW show segment filmed at the event along with special tribute to Florida Law Enforcement and officer appreciation.
In addition to the ride through some of the most beautiful parts of Florida, the event will feature vendor exhibits, food, entertainment and fun - all while honoring the families of brave law enforcement officers.
Proceeds from the annual event will go into the True American Hero Fund, which was established to benefit law enforcement officers in memory of those slain in the line of duty. Sprint Nextel hopes to raise $25,000 through event registration and community business donations and improve the morale of the officer and the public's perception of the uniform they wear.
